Who commuted in their classic today?
Discussion
Made the trip to work in my dad's Daimler 250 V8 this morning. Aside from misting up windows, easy peasy. Always drive it with a big smile on my face, but there's something about using something special for a humdrum task that makes me smile more - and judging by the smiles and approving nods from other commuters in the traffic, it makes other people smile too!
Anyone else?

Me... 1985 escort rs turbo...took advantage of the cold damp air this morning
My first experience of 100mph was in a new (at the time!) RS Turbo on the M3 with my dad driving. His mother (my nan) was in the front seat, noticed the speed he was doing and gave him a proper telling off.. akirk said:
my range rover classic is a daily driver - though it has been pinched by a friend who needed the towbar!
having said that my newest car is an e39, so depends how old / new you want to go...
That's a whole new thread.. "how old does it have to be to be a classic?" having said that my newest car is an e39, so depends how old / new you want to go...
Let's say over 20 years old for the purposes of this thread!

Some great contributions on here so far, and loving the pics!
To cover those lucky enough to have to no need to commute any more, how about we extend the scope of the thread to "who used their classic for an 'everyday task' today?" so.. trip to the supermarket, runs to the tip etc..?
Still think we should stick with 20+ years though..

Yes, today and everyday! My 1982 Alfa Romeo Giulietta saloon fitted with a 3.0 V6 and all the running gear from a 75. Just taken myself, wife 5 year old and baby on a long weekend to Devon and back without missing a beat. The newest car in our household also happens to be an E39, which is my wife's daily runner. It took months to find a manual Sport Touring version.
Quality! Any pics of the Alfa? Not commuting, but 'keeping it real'.. went through a Burger King drive-thru in the Daimler at the weekend.. and she started overheating in the queue! That'll teach me for being unhealthy..
A picture (not at the drive-thru).. just because I started this thread and, accordingly, feel justified!

Pleased this thread is proving useful as a reminder to check the small print on insurance documents!
Keeping the wider scope of 'classics doing everyday things' popped into Sainsbury's in the Daimler this afternoon and parked (accidentally-on-purpose) near a lovely Ferrari 458. Came back to the car with the shopping and as I approached it, I saw a chap looking at both cars and overheard him say to his companion, whilst pointing at the Daimler, "yeah, but I'd rather have that one.." Made me smile..
That said, if any 458 owners want a swap..
