The want for a black or opalescent grey S Type Jag is Strong !!

There is some simply superb, High Speed action in this short film.
It’s also a very fitting tribute to the criminally under rated S Type Jaguar.
The sequence where the grey S Type is being chased by Regan, Carter, etc is absolutely superb.
It’s also very clear, just how well a heavy S Type ( this opalescent grey car would no doubt have been very baggy in the suspension dept @ circa 8 years old ) could be hustled along.

Does anyone recognise any of the locations in this film ?
There is a very distinctive branch of C+A and the narrow street scenes look very East End of London, but I believe that Sweeney filming took place in West London.

Note the red Healey 3000MK111 near the beginning.

And is the black S Type a genuine Plod one ??

Watch to the end.

Some of the locations in that Sweeney episode were Battersea Goods Yard (aka ‘Lambeth Goods’), Sheepcote Lane near Latchmere Junction and Clapham Junction, and a couple of streets in Hammersmith.

Some of the stunt driving was done by Pete Brayham and some by the actor Billy Murray.

“Alright Cooney, make a name for yourself”.
Hello P5, thanks for the info. Have you any more info on Pete Brayham and actor Bill Murray ?
Is that Murray @ the wheel of the Consul GT when Carter calls him Evil Knievel ??

I havent heard of “Out “ or the Film “ Performance “ before.
Just looked up Bryan Marshall, very well known character actor who has sadly passed away.

Yes Marshall has been in loads of good British films and TV series though strangely never in 'The Sweeney'. He was in 'The Professionals' and 'The Long Good Friday' though, and the 1972 ITV series 'Villains' with Bob Hoskins, Martin Shaw and loads of other well known faces. I'd recommend watching 'Out', it's very gritty with some great characters, casting and locations etc. It was made right at the end of Sweeney production in late '77 and early '78 and has a very similar feel to the Sweeney.

'Performance' is probably more of an acquired taste, it's almost two cult films in one, shot in late 1968 but not released until 1970. The first half is a gangster film with James Fox causing havoc for his guvnor (played by Johnny Shannon who later appeared in The Sweeney, The Professionals and Minder) then the second half is where he goes on the run and hides out in Mick Jagger's hippy den in Notting Hill. It's nicely filmed with some more familiar faces playing the villains, including John Bindon who was also in 'Get Carter'.

The S-Type in 'Stoppo Driver' was 'RBP 282E' wink

Just watched all of the episodes of “ Out “ ! And omg, absolutely superb, Tom Bell was such an amazing actor, so sad that many of the cast have passed away, inc John Junkin, Tom Bell and Brian Marshall R.I.P.
