Is it me, or do classic car values seem to be cooling? I'm looking at run of the mill classics, considering one as a runaround, e.g. Farinas, Heralds etc and there seem to be some very good buys around. Is it possible this is the start of a cooling off period? (not a completely bad thing, in my opinion)

I could be wrong, mind you, but three consecutive cars I looked at seem really good value. Tiny sample, obviously.

To put my original post into context, I have no interest in making an investment and aside from some rare exotica, I despise the idea of cars being hidden away in a carcoon, purely to watch them appreciate in value. My interest is that I'm looking to buy something to use, but I don't want to sink too much into something because, as with many other things, prices seem high. I do see them coming down over the next year because we are all feeling the pinch.

His birthday is the easy bit, its the same day as mine!! I just forget how old is he, and couldnt be bothered to do the maths.
Not good enough for PH, they demand precision.

My mate the restorer has recently done a valuation on a Triumph Stag , absolutely immaculate and original. I fell of my chair when he said 80k !
That must be a very special one, never seen one close to that figure
The only Stag that I could see being close to that value is the green one that lives at Gaydon museum, which was the last one built.

Otherwise, I can't see any other Stag being valued for insurance purposes at more than 40k let alone 80k!
I would like to see an 80k Stag. I've just looked at the classifieds and there are some beautiful looking examples between 18k and 25k

I sell this stuff for a living.

Two years covering lockdown was the busiest I have ever been in over 20 years, was quite incredible really.

Since last Sept/October it’s been flat, very few buyers around, really hard work.

Auction results are usually a pointer for the near future, I am expecting a very quiet year, if that translates into a drop in values this year I am not sure, as people are very reluctant to accept that their prizes “asset” isn’t worth what it was last year and will hold out until forced .
Very interesting to hear from someone in the know. Thank you
