Hi Dink,
Any of Aston 55 in the Rain in British Sports Car Race?
'Fraid not, I had to choose from so many cars because of the rain forced me to stay only 15 mins or so, sorry.Any of Aston 55 in the Rain in British Sports Car Race?
Neil Twyman in the 11.
Roger went absolute mental in his Cooper T51 2.5 litre huge fourpot Climax riot.
Alasdair McCaig came close but had to retire - thought he mentioned a box failure. Roger won.
Wide lines for the fuel-heavy Comet.
The pretty Bizza stormed the field up to 4th, first half of the race closely tailed by the monster Vette Roadster.

I just love those pictures of the Cooper T51
And what a blast that race was! Roger explained the car to me and I got interested. Particulary because of the neighbouring paddock was packed to the max with 50s open wheel formula cars: never saw anything like it. The torquey 2.5 Climax four banger did a 2:48 best!

DP412
Martin Brewers superb Aston Martin Project 214 Re-creation. Three double Webers bolted on the straight six. Basis was DB4GT 3.7 litre spec: 310 brake at 6K.
The original Aston Martin DP214 was built in 1962 and raced at Le Mans in 1963. Martin entered his recreation in the Barrie SS race.
Martins car was built up using DB4/559/L as the basis and was completed in 2005.
The original DP214 recorded 300 kilometres per hour (186.4 mph) down the Mulsanne straight, in 1963 and with Ireland at the helm. Final result was a 6th overall.
Martins car is a stunner and quick as well. Barries race was in the wet - pretty wet! - and a slippery affair for most. Together with Pete Foster of blue TR4 fame, they brought the car in at 44th with a 3:44 best lap. Wet indeed!

I ignore flash as it gives the cars a strange look at speed.
Also I like to snap them when they are coming towards me . . . not a polite gesture to flash at that moment.
Indeed, not much work mid corner as I noticed both Alasdair and Jerry waved to me when passing. Apparently one hand is enough then.
And for some, it always is enough

Think so yeah.
Jaap Sinke in the Deeniks Ford Falcon Sprint (ex-Carrera Panamericana car):
3:07s with this 289 powered beauty. A fantastic 41th finish, especially as you know the engine was not run in and Jaap had never drove it before! Class guy.
Exhaust fumes flowing in the office so note the tubes to let it all out . . . kind of.

Just sorting through my pictures now. Had a great time on the pit wall of garage 27 (car 96) as always, well done everyone. My God it got wet, six hours in the cold! What's not to love ;0) The meal on Friday night was brilliant and a return visit must be made next year ;0)
Aha, so you brought the awesome looking JPS Cerbera! Fantastic piece of eye candy. On with the show, Phils brought his S3 Espada:
Yup, it's a 12POT allright.
The rare Lambo - although "By the time it went out of production in 1978, more Espadas were made than any other Lamborghini, some 1,217 in all, almost twice the number of Urracos or Miuras, and more than twice the number of the fabled Countach. When you’re good, the roots hold fast." - attracted some attention! I wonder how many are left. Some were cut up for their V12. The Espada shared the plant with the Miura and Countach cars.
Very nice review here.
"The boldest statement, however, was the fastback roofline, never before done so well on a car so big. It’s a shape - trust us - that owns the high road."
The steep way up. Unbelieveable the climb is a stretch of about 1 mile! Awesome sight to see the cars whizz by, headlights shining through the trees.
Sunday BSS race:
. . . and that was the only time Phil came pass my lens. After the bloody warm up lap the diff gave up . . . ;(
