I was supposed to be in France now; but a family emergency has kept us in the UK. My French runabout that stays stationed over there was due its CT tomorrow! And I’m not sure how much trouble I can get in by missing the date?

I plan to be out this month at some stage - so will get it done then - but... could I get myself in trouble? Is it strict, or like the UK, where you get away with it being a few weeks late? (especially if the car is not being used of course!)

Nothing to worry about if parked privately .But if an assurance claim was needed then it might get a bit sticky.

Let me know if you need help as I'm not far from Charroux.

Thank you! You’ve put my mind at rest somewhat.

And thank you for the offer! Unfortunately, the car is in Morzine, so a fair distance from you. As well it’s garaged - and needs a couple bulbs changing etc.

Thanks again; I just didn’t know if I’d have fines flooding through my letter box; lovely to find upon arrival.

Dont worry.
I was stranded in the UK and my car needed its CT. Mrs S was worried we would have no insurance on the drive back to France as we weren't legal.
I phoned my insurer and explained, his reply was if you have an accident and it can be proved it was caused by not having a CT you are not insured. In practice this means an accident caused by mechanical failure so in reality you are insured even without a CT.

As to time before getting the CT done,my local chap didn't bat an eyelid when I did mine nearly a month late.
Brilliant news. Thank you!
