If I could pick the PH hive mind, please.

Does anybody know of a reasonably priced hotel in central France somewhere handy for an onward journey to Normandy to catch a night ferry (2200ish) that has a very secure car park, preferably enclosed? Anything up to £125 a night? I know of one in Nuits St Georges but that leaves a massive schlep the next day…

Come the next pair of bank holidays, I’m planning on transporting a load of valuable HiFi from my house in Northern Italy back home to the UK, coming back through Caen and Portsmouth. This kit will be in the back of a bog standard Subaru estate.

I’d like to break the journey somewhere but my experience of most French hotels is that cars are generally left in easily accessible car parks with little meaningful security. I’d really rather not have to move a car load of heavy amps and speakers more than necessary and would ideally want to leave them in the car under lock and key.

I’d be very grateful for thoughts.

Sorry no recommendation but a suggestion.
Look for a hotel in the countryside not a town. Most will have their own grounds and theft in the countryside is not the same problem as the large urban areas.
thumbup thanks.

Some friends were very impressed with the Chateau de Sarceaux just outside Alencon. Don't think it has secure parking per se but it's in the grounds of a chateau so quite private. Also gives a reasonably short run to Ouistreham for the ferry...
Thanks.

You can park in the courtyard. Zero chance of theft. High chance of bird dropping.
That looks really good. Thanks.

Bird droppings are fine; the Subaru is a shed in the finest traditions of PHsmile.

Just to close the loop. Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly, the chateau was fully booked.

I ended staying at Villa Rose in Escolives-Sainte-Camille near Auxerre, off the wine route D606.

Clean, quiet, secure, own en suite, and with a decent breakfast, but a chamber d’hote rather than a posh hotel.

There is an enclosed yard (with gate) for parking.

Good price. It can be found on booking.com.
