I just received my road tax renewal form this morning and they are asking £175 for 12 months. I could have sworn that last years was only £125, but I need to double check tonight.

What are you paying?

The S2 111S is the lowest tax of all the Elises other than the 1.6.
To be honest it wasn't something I looked into when I bought it. I just assumed that it would be less than my 2.5l BMW due to the engine size and it being post 2001.

Crazy thing is my BMW will pass a cat test but it does not run cat's.

I just found a list showing the tax for every current model
http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Emissions_and_Road_Tax

It needs updating but just add £10 to the amounts.

Looks like the new 1.6 is the cheapest at £130.00

The point was that by paying UK road tax we have the right to use the motorways if we so choose.
Apart from the M6 toll

penalising the subsequent owners is completely pointless.
Apart from the fact it raises huge amounts of money every year.

Surely resale values come into this. If people want low co2 cars then the original purchaser of a gas guzzler will be crippled on resale value.
