I'm sure this has probably been done to death but which should I buy? An S or an R? I have been in a s1 exile many years ago and loved it. A mate took me for a spin in his 54 plate S again a few years ago now. But knowing me if I buy an S I will want to have the power of the R. I just wonder if a tuned S would end up being a better car than an R 04-06 redg models. I'm thinking the R would command more money when it was time to move it on. I'm not that familiar with Lotus yet so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

What about an S tuned to make more power than an R? I know what I'm like and will end up wanting more.

Can you put it in to context for me as my mine is having difficulty computing that 156bhp is enough. 189 sounds more like it.

190bhp seems fine. It I am very surprised at the weight difference. I want it for B road blasting and weekend fun.

I'm struggling to understand why lotus made the R over the S of many people are telling me an S is enough and the performance difference isnt much different. What are the key differences within S and an R ?

I thought the 05 onwards 111s was a toyota engine car? So an 05 onwards 111s or S (156bhp) whichever is correct and an 04 onwards R again toyota engine.

So what is the difference

Sorry for being thick but just for clarity. It is not possible to get a 156bhp Toyota engined car from 05 onwards?

It's got to be an R then. I don't want the rover engined car and 134bhp model is to slow for my taste.

An R? Send me the details. I have been offered one that I am considering which I need to go and view.
