Is anyone out there running an FFF head with the DUPLEX chain arrangement .. I'd like to know if there's a secret way of getting the cams out without removing the timing cover. At the moment I have a car in and I need to change the cam timing by more than the adjustment slots allow so I need to jump the chain over a tooth on both inlet and exhaust sprockets. Sadly i can't get either the sprockets off the front of the cams or the cams out.

Anyone got any pointers ? I've called racing green and there's nobody there can help.

Tool that clamps the camshaft sprockets in place... allowing the cams to be lifted and the buckets removed.

that doesn't help, I can't get the cams clear of the sprockets. presumably the tool you refer to works on the simpex chain versions which have a slimmer sprocket ? On this duplex version i cannot see how on earth you can adjust the valve clearances without removing the engine.. rather expensive come service time.

Woody's a lovely chap .. hasn't done one with the duplex chain, always had the simplex conversion on the engines he's been involved with (didn't realise he's ex racing green so was exactly the right person to chat to, thanks for that).
Car off back to owner so he can take the engine out and sort it.

thanks all.
