I'm thinking of upgrading the ecu and looking for tips and experiences of fitting an idle control valve.
Is it worth it, what were your reasons for doing it?

I've just read your S6 write up linked in your bio Matt. I don't know how I've missed it but a really good read.

Did you do something similar when you had the Syvecs and idle control put on?

I've read that Syvecs are amongst the best but also had Emerald recommended so will do more research into both.
Was the Syvecs just running off the one throttle pot? Big advantage if so as I've also got Andy's roller throttle bodies which makes having 2 (almost) redundant.

I'd like sequential injection and independent throttle bodies too but having a stable idle is most important at the moment.

Believe it or not it's roughly the same issue that I came up to you with, about 5 years ago? Although after mapping it did run a hell of a lot better for a while smile
Poor pick up from very low revs resulting in either embarrassing bunny hops or having to declutch when trying to roll on from about 1k rpm. It used to be easy to commute into London but it's too much hard work now. Pulling away used to be just a whif of throttle or just use the torque and clutch to get going. Now sometimes it refuses to take a small throttle opening and bogs down.

The Andys roller bearing mod was the first thing I had changed.

You're right it was booked in for low speed running behaviour but I mentioned the idle as after you'd done the tune it seemed to be running better all round. Could have been halo effectsmile

Glad you mentioned the graphs. I dug yours out too and compared them to a run done at Emerald last year. The profiles are dead on - nice and smooth still wink but the thing that stands out is the power is near enough identical up to 4K rpm. Then they goes to 348bhp while yours was 320. I know they're different but I'd have expected a difference across the whole range?
