I'm aware of the red/yellow wire swap for ensuring settings are retained between driving sessions, but is there a head unit, preferably single din, that saves its settings between full power cycles? So for example, you take the head unit out of the car, or completely disconnect the battery, then connect it back up again with the head unit remembering your preferences, paired devices, etc.

I was thinking in this day and age there must be something that writes settings to NAND memory as the setting is first made so that it would be retained between complete power recycles, does one exist?

I'd considered seeing if I could develop my own with a raspberry pi but sadly my electronics skills are somewhat lacking.

I'd have loved the FZ102E if it had bluetooth frown

Just found the 2016 pioneer models also have memory backup but still find it extraordinary that memory backup has just made it to car head units.

The chinese android head unit in my vito remembers all its settings even with no power as i have discovered, as i have had the battery out a few times everything is stored, radio settings, bluetooth pairings, all installed apps , eq settings the lot. Sounds nice too and integrates with the steering wheel controls and dash display.
Do you have any more info on which chinese android unit you have? I'm still struggling to find the one unit that has what I'd like and isn't too bling.

I'm sorted. Found a JVC unit I'm happy with so that's on its way to me now. I had to email their support folks though as some advertisers said it had backup memory, but nothing on the JVC site. They've confirmed it will save all settings between battery disconnects smile

Neh, I wanted a single din unit, but thanks for posting the link, looks an interesting unit. I remember when some of the initial android units came out and they looked sketchy at best whereas that looks as good as what the main players have on offer.
