Is there a head unit that doesn't lose settings?
Discussion
I'm aware of the red/yellow wire swap for ensuring settings are retained between driving sessions, but is there a head unit, preferably single din, that saves its settings between full power cycles? So for example, you take the head unit out of the car, or completely disconnect the battery, then connect it back up again with the head unit remembering your preferences, paired devices, etc.
I was thinking in this day and age there must be something that writes settings to NAND memory as the setting is first made so that it would be retained between complete power recycles, does one exist?
I'd considered seeing if I could develop my own with a raspberry pi but sadly my electronics skills are somewhat lacking.

The chinese android head unit in my vito remembers all its settings even with no power as i have discovered, as i have had the battery out a few times everything is stored, radio settings, bluetooth pairings, all installed apps , eq settings the lot. Sounds nice too and integrates with the steering wheel controls and dash display.
Do you have any more info on which chinese android unit you have? I'm still struggling to find the one unit that has what I'd like and isn't too bling.Gassing Station | In-Car Electronics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
