I am rebuilding a 1967 MG roadster and want to put in a decent hidden music system.
I figured that all I need is:
a 12v bluetooth amp (ideally with a small remote control that does not need line of sight) with two speaker outs and a sub woofer out.
Under seat sub.
Two hidden speakers.

Then I can use a phone or iPod as input, which will have radio aps.
Connected via either bluetooth or an input lead

This seems way too cheap to be decent but is sort of what I was hoping sony or a good company may make:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WINGONEER-Mini-Bluetooth...

I have no clue how to specify what I'd need in terms of output power, whether I'd need capacitors on the power supply etc etc, but any advice would be really appreciated, or is it a non starter.

Cheers

Ed

Well found and will be a good benchmark for the spec, but it won't run a sub woofer.

Unless you can use the speaker connections?

I'll ask!

I've seen , but not heard, cars just running with a self powered Bluetooth speaker carefully placed in ear shot. The easiest way.

Why not just fit a small 4 channel amp under a seat or hidden away. That can power two speakers and a small subwoofer (bridge 2 rear channels).

You can buy 12v wifi streaming modules from Neet (£20) that can plug into the amps RCA input allowing you to stream music via wifi directly and easily into the amp. There are also free radio player apps if you want to stream normal radio through the system.

And if you want to use your phones gps while streaming, you can on most phones and it will come through the audio system. On an iPhone, there is a simple way around using wifi and 3/4g at the same time too!

I hope this helps and makes sense, as it's the best way to get a good hidden system for little outlay!

The Need stuff seems to be 5V via a 2 pin plug. How would you propose the OP connects this to 12V as I'm struggling to see any sort of adaptor to USB or 12V for it.
Any help much appreciated, as I'm tempted to try one of these.

I ran one of these in my MK1 Caddy, hidden in the glove box and powering 4 speakers....my advice is don't bother. It was awful. I had to crank it right up to get any volume out of a phone and was terrible audio and build quality!

I saw something at volksworld that was interesting, ill see if i can find a link (or even what the product was called)

Edit: http://www.classiccarstereo.co.uk/hidden-audio/hid... its a bit more expensive than i was expecting it to be! not sure its worth that price, and it would work with a sub!

I'm sure there must be something that sits between the two camps

The Neet box is Wifi streaming not Bluetooth like the JL one. Wifi is much better for streaming. The JL one also is not great quality and doesn't let you know it's connected. If you want to use BT not Wifi, get the In Car Tec one as it is much better!

The Neet Wifi streaming box is 5v, but is powered by a 12v feed through USB. Connect it to a USB connection like the iPhone chargers you get in petrol stations and it will work perfectly. I have one to stream DA (digital audio) through my full DA car audio system.
