Help identify this electrical connector

I have a MK2 Renault Megane.

Common fault seems to be that the loom between tailgate and number plate lights corrodes and stops working.

I thought this would be an easy fix, but no breaker has come back to me and Renault want £40 (!) for the official repair loom (12 inches of wire!).

I've been looking for the connectors online but I've been struggling. I know they must be out there as you can buy aftermarket LED light housings.

Any ideas?





There is "38851" on the back but that doesn't seem to bring up much.

Dimensions are 20mm wide x 18mm exterior.

Any ideas?

If all you're doing is connecting wires then cut the pictured connector off and fit a universal one.

I can use a Dupont connector which fits the pins, but it's not waterproof. I think water is what's caused the corrosion in the first place so this would not be my ideal.

If it is the terminals in that plug that are corroded you can remove them and fit new terminals, you can also add lengths of new cable to those terminals
Take your vehicle to an auto electrician and ask in the nicest possible manner for some new terminals, the other way of getting terminals is to Google

I have some spare terminals so I can try that, good idea.

The plug is moulded onto the lights at the other end, so I can't change connector format.
