Car Mini Disc with MDLP capability....?

Car Mini Disc with MDLP capability....

A pal has asked me about this...I do not really know what the term MDLP means, but apparently he has this system at home and would like to play the Mini discs in his car... which incidentally is an old Capri 3L.

If anyone has any knowledge about this, or indeed has one of these units for a car, any help would be welcome !

Yes... I have told him that it is quite old technology and that it did not really take off, but he has music on it at home so I guess he would like it in the car !

And an 8 track would be much more apt !!

I am all ears...but it came out quite a while ago and if IIRC it was not widely adapted, especially in the automotive world, apart from maybe Japan ?

Just to add my contribution....I have no idea why my pal wants to persevere with MD for his car, but he asked me the question so I put it on here ...!!

I have learned quite a lot since this morning....PH at it's best...!!

I am not into tech as much as some folk on here, but even I could discern a difference in that the sound quality from my 'basic' Sony Walkman NWZ-E384 as compared to my Apple iPhone SE when played via the aux socket in my car, which has a really good sound system: the Sony sounded 'better' to me.

Re the Mini Disc, it has echoes of the Betamax/ VHS story in the 70's....

Thanks for the offer : it's a bit tricky being as my friend is the one who is after the MD player...!

If yours can play MDLP he will be interested I am sure, but if it does not than I will pass.

From the posts above if it says MDLP on the front then it should be OK...?
