Volvo 440: Considering a purchase

When I get back off holiday I've lined myself up a couple of test drives. One being a Volvo 440. The cars only done 50k miles in 24 years so sounds well looked after and at a grand is worth my attention.

Does anyone know about these cars? Are they reliable? It's not anyone turbo, just the 1.8 model on an L reg.

I had no specific desire for the 440 anymore than there seing one on autotrader for a grand with only 50k on the clock. They look a bit square really I think I was just trying to be different hoping they had some additional characteristics I wasn't getting from just seeing the ad.

I might test drive it if it's on my way to something else just to get a feel but won't hold out on it and revisit my original shed wishlist. Thanks. Appreciate it

Thanks for the advice. I wasnt expecting a powerful car by any means just if they are reliable really. Im probably underselling myself a bit. The more i think about it the more id regret it a month in having bought it. Ill take it iff my list. Cheers
