I’ve found a car local to me that looks perfect for my needs. It’s a 2006 Volvo V70 with the same 2.4 Petrol.

Here is the advert. Any help or advice would be great.

I've got a couple, a V70 and an S80 both the 2.4 petrol, they are good solid engines, the 170bhp version is a bit perkier but they are smooth, quiet, easy to work on (if that's your thing) and incredibly comfortable, I do find the ride in the V70 to be harsher than the S80.

They'll do 30mpg mixed, 26 round town.

Have a decent test drive as the autos can be troublesome but seeing as there is no tow bar on the one you are looking at its probably OK.

They are great cars, and just cruise along really well with a great stereo, they are massive inside and the seats fold completely flat, if it looks OK, drives well and there's no warning lights (it's 99% sure you'll get an 'alarm service required' warning on start up)

They are heavy on suspension components so expect the odd clunk but bits are pretty cheap.

There's a very easy way to get full Bluetooth connectivity and streaming, and hands free calling, fit one of these to the CD changer port on the back of the head unit, it also works with the wheel buttons

That brilliant. Thanks very much. What do you think about the one I’ve listed? Anything of a worry that would need to be addressed?

I’ve seen this mentioned is this a big issue to sort out;

Nearside rear lower integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security (6.2.2 (d) (i))
Offside rear lower integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security (6.2.2 (d) (i))

Id walk away and look for another one
Because of the rust? They are hard to find and people want a premium for them.

Rust i could deal with if its corrosion it will need cutting out and new metal welding in. If you can find someone to weld it and its affordable then go for it
I was thinking of getting a pre-inspection done by the AA or RAC but it needs an MOT and the seller is reluctant to get one done.

I’m hoping to keep it long term. Hopefully the seller gets its MOT done. They have said they don’t have time but the problem being is I can’t test drive/tax or insure it.

It takes an hour for an mot - I’d be concerned about their reluctance as it indicates they know it’ll throw up some issues.

How about asking them to get it done, and if it passes you pay for that Mot on top of the price of the car. If they decline that, walk away as they’re probably hiding something.
I’ve thought of that myself. Which I think is fair.

I may walk away if they don’t get the MOT done. They said they would try. I will give them till the end of the week. Trouble is finding one. As people seem to want a premium for them I’ve only got around £2000 to £2500 to spend.

Must it be a V70?
I know of a couple of Estates that might be a far better proposition for your budget.
Doesn’t have to be a V70. It’s for a family member for work. They just like them.

I think I will leave it. I will keep an eye out for something within my budget.

I’ve found a local Diesel one which I suspect would be slightly easier to sell:
