V40 Gdi... any good?

I've been looking for a runabout with a bit of load lugging ability and I'm quite taken with the V40.

They've got plenty of toys and they're cheap and economical. The Gdi engine is supposed to be pretty powerful and good on fuel but I've heard of people having trouble with the cylinder heads coking up and throttle bodies failing and so on.

Anyway, anyone had/have one? Are they worth having and are they maintainable by a competent DIYer?

Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely on the lookout for a V40 Gdi now. I need a car with good fuel economy but don't want a diesel! Direct injection petrol seems to be the way to go.
