I haven't made a model in like 30 years, I've got a fair old stash though! I'm currently busting my arse off delivering shopping, I want to start making a few, I feel it will help me chill out before bed and also on my days off, I am not looking at dr_gn or robemcdonald etc extremely high standards! I just need a cheap airbrush and compressor for not a lot of money that will do a half decent job! Cheers.

I'm surprised there's not a sticky for this subject - it seems to get asked every couple of weeks; same with modelling tools and kits for beginners. Same answers, same conflicting viewpoints over and over and over again.
Apologies if i annoyed you, Cheers.

Thanks for running down my thread guy's, Typical PH fashion, Yes i've used an airbrush before, Was about 30 years ago, It had a propellant can, Cheapo Humbrol one i think? The result's i got with this was so much better than Brush painting, I just wanted some input into a cheap compressor and airbrush that would give me the same result's, I ain't flush in cash like some of you obviously are, Sorry for asking, Cheers.

There is actually a whole lot of great advice in the posts.

Comments regarding cheap and expensive options, with people providing insight into the benefits of both.

What part of your question wasn’t answered?

This is a friendly part of the forum. Everyone will not always agree, but questions are always answered and advice offered.
If you take you, dr_gn and eric out of the post's then it is true, Jeez rolleyes

My experience is based on second hand cheap Chinese airbrushes and compressor then a more expensive airbrush (£90 harder & Steenbeck Ultra)

In end most of my problems were down to the paint mix and running too much air pressure and my own skill/patience or lack there of, it’s getting better slowly

Modellingtools.co.uk in my experience have been helpful

Generous offer Rob, good job.

I have a similar Chinese compressor and a white label airbrush. The quality of my spraywork is surely not (yet) limited by that hardware. The results are purely down to mixture, pression and my own clumsiness, which for me is a part of the fun of exploring and experimenting.
Good to know! I can't wait to get started!

Rob, A quick update mate! Air leak fixed, Getting 50 psi and it's cutting in and out like it should do, Well chuffed, Thanks again! I'm off next week so will be going up to my storage and will be checking over my stash to find a candidate for my 1st attempt, I love Russian aviation tin especially civil but I've quite a few 1/72 IL-2 Sturmovik's that i have bought over the years as i also like this plane, I think i will dig one out and give it a go! Any recommendations for good airbrush paint? Cheers.

Hi Rob, All good mate, I will get up to speed and a respectable standard hopefully! Being 57 years old with deteriorating eyesight the added bonus you gave on your already super generous offer is just going to be too fiddly for me, I am happy to post it on FOC to anyone on here who would like it, If no takers i will give it to a local charity shop in the hope they can get a few quid for it, For anyone interested it is a Revell 1/144 F15E Strike eagle, I will post it to you FOC, PM me if interested and make sure you thank Rob!
