As above this is really going to be one of those needle in a haystack searches.

I would love to track down one of the very few Peugeot 505 V6 saloon's left in existence. My dad had a beautiful dark grey example for many years but according to DVLA it's been dead a long time. Data also shows there are currently only three examples left on the road hence why this is going to be so tricky if not impossible!!

Its more sentimental than anything but I really loved that car and would like to get one of the few left to restore. I know of a GTi Saloon thats for sale which I could be tempted with but part of me only wants the V6!! The GTi will need some work (cosmetic mainly) but would rather spend the money doing up a V6!!

Did anyone else on here own one?? Has anyone seen one in the last few years?? If anyone spots a V6 can you give me a shout

You could always find a GTI, and if you're wanting to spend time restoring the car, you could possibly just buy a suitable vintage V6 and transplant?
Its not that easy unfortunately, all the trim levels etc are vastly different, V6 has full leather for example. If I bought the GTi I would want to keep it in original spec and its fitted with a fairly low mileage engine. There are only 7 GTi saloons left and would again want to keep it original.

How desperate are you?

Found this; http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-c...

...Its in Canada

ETS; also - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Maybe OP can remember where the car went?
I'm not quite desparate enough to pay $8500 plus shipping etc for the Canadian one hehe

Great spot on the other post, will drop him an e mail. Same model and year as Dad used to have, D plate V6 Executive smile I've got a photo I'll post up later.

I have a pristine 505 XD3T in my garage, left from my father, although without the engine. Tweed seats, GTi red. Loved it as a child. I'm aiming to put a GM V8 in it this winter.
Would love to see any photo's you may have smile

This is my dad's old V6, lovely old thing it was. He did have a 505 GTi Estate as well after this, I distinctly remember a lot of sideways movement because of the very tall and soft tyre sidewalls!!

Thanks for the link, that ones been up for sale for the last month or so on the bay. The price was dropped recently and I see someone has put in a bid now.

It doesn't look too bad (apart from sunroof) but the diesel doesn't do it for me so to speak. I'm really only after a V6 or GTi should one appear. I keep an eye on the bay every day just in case thumbup

As much as I like the 406's its the 505 saloon top of my wish list because we used to have one, same thing for the estate. While it'll be practical is not really what I'm after.

I may well of course never find one and if thats the case then so be it.

The only other thing I'm keeping an eye out for is a nice 605 SVE 24v, again a very rare car these days. There is one on the bay at the moment in red but its in a bit of a state and has quite a few issues.

edit: GTIs, are they v6s though? I dunno
The GTi is a 2.2L 4 pot and I think unless I'm very much mistaken was used as a basis for the Lotus 2.2 used in the Esprit (could be horribly wrong though!)

V6 is a 2.8l engine, very smooth from what I can remember of my dads old one.

Ahh it was Vauxhall after a bit of digging, well the block anyway (tho PSA group used it in the Talbot Lotus Sunbeam which is probably where I was getting mixed up).

They do seem to be up for sale at significantly higher prices on the continent, in the States even more so! There seemed to be a decent American market for them as well.

That grey one does look nice though smile

Quick update from me on this.

Still no luck in tracking down a decent 505 V6 or GTi BUT....

I will be collecting a very nice 605 SVE V6 this weekend, relatively low mileage, full leather in excellent condition and a brand new 12 month MOT, all for the princely sum of £469 thumbup

I'll post up some photo's once I've collected it (hopefully on Sunday)

Well done OP, you set yourself quite a challenge there

I distinctly remember reading in some magazine in the early 90s about the 605s ability to empty a Peugeot workshop at the sight of one arriving as they were pigs to work on. How true this actually is I don't know

Post pics as I have a soft spot for a 605, I can't remember the last time I seen one
Touching wood very quickly its been a well looked after car and everything (bar two bulbs) still works.

The way I'm looking at it is for the price I'm paying should something go badly wrong with it I'll just sell it to the scrapman (would be a shame though. Should get at least a couple of hundred back for it. The engine is good and gearbox is fine so even if I only get a years motoring then it will have paid for itself. Hopefully it will go on a lot longer though!

'How many left' reckons there are 3 V6 autos left, no manuals at all. 7 manual GTI's left, 8 auto's frown Could have been a long wait!

Pics of the 605 please!
Interestingly though, there are 10 more 505 V6 auto's on SORN as well so they are out there, just hiding very well!

I'll keep looking but I know that I may well never find one.

Quick update from me.

Picked up my 605 last weekend, all in all its better than the average 605 out there. It has a few little niggles but nothing too serious. Body isnt too bad other than a little lacquer peel on the front grille. Interior is in lovely condition, will post some pics once I've given the leather a clean.

Here is a pic though taken yesterday.

My dad used to have a 604 Sti as well, seem to remember it being in a light gold colour.

If a good one should pop up I would be tempted although its a 505 V6 that I'm still after smile

For anyone interested a 505 GTi Saloon has popped up in the Midlands on ebay.

I would be going for it myself but it doesnt have any mot at the moment and I'm not in a position where I could store it off road.

Hi there, my 605 is a 12V auto not the SVE24. Those are near extinction here, only 2 left in the country on the road I believe.

My V6 12v is common by comparison, there are 'only' 24 left on the road in the UK!!

I'll post up some other photo's at some point, its clean although not immaculate. Interior is near new condition though!!

On a similar note (that being big old French cars), if anyone becomes aware of a phase 2 Renault 25 Monaco coming up for sale let me know!
There are only 14 R25 Monaco's in total left on the road. Think you may have a similar wait to me!! Only one auto left and the rest are manuals.
