Am looking for a weekend toy. Went to see Hanwells, the RR/B dealer.

Now - the Arnage is much more coherent when it comes to the exterior. They sorted out the rear doors/windows which look a bit weird on the SZ range, the tail lights are much nicer and so on.

Still - I fail to fall in love with it. The angular SZ has a provocative, ultra-straight, "official" design and strikes a chord in me. Arnage's interior seems like a semi-ironic twist on the "real" RR/B interior.

What shall I do?

No....I dont think SZ series are lacking charme, but Arnage. Still, it is much better looking from the outside.

Brain: "You should have the Arnage"
Gut: "WANT the Brooklands"

Well - they are a little bit Terry-Tibbs-y but at least offer a very good selection of modern classics RR/B in London.

Anyway - I know that I want a peacock blue post-1996 Brookland or Turbo with magnolia leather and 17" wheels.

I see:-)

No I dont want "improved" handling - I very much like the ship-like behaviour and will not try to make it feel like a 911.

Or a normal car.

It needs to be post 1996 - from 1997 onwards, German road tax is EUR 500 instead of 1000.

Still - an I mainly want a car for weekends/those special days when you need to have a Bentley to waft around in....which model suits me best? I am concerned that the A. might feel/behave a bit to ordinary/perfect. The SZ series look very "formal" and provocative (as in "not beautiful"). The final facelift interior looks REALLY nice; the A. interior (at least in the early cars) is a bit too modern/plain for my taste. Still, it has the prettiest body shape.

That was my plan.

At Hanwells, there was a wonderful deep-dark-green (almost black) A. with pumpkin leather. Hmm...

Proper -"real" - magnolia is hard to find, often car dealer call anything from parchment to oatmeal or ivory "magnolia".

Magnolia is quite yellowish - I think it is the most iconic RR/B interior colour (next to St James red).

It started with 12k for a Brooklands...

Now looking to spend 20-25k, for Green/Red label (does it really matter), but needs to be in right spec (grey or dark blue, with magnolia leather), 100% factory spec, no bling wheels etc.

Most of the greens are too light/too metallic.

And I dont want the bright silver b/c too blingy.

and certainly not black.

Derek Mowat and Silver Lady both have a nice green Green label - unfortuntately wrong shade of green.

Well...if I can chose between two identical cars then RL, yes, but otherwise I'd be fine with the GL. Overall condition/history and spec is more important to me.

I have driven the GL. I like it. Where would be the "mistake"??

Well, I think by now I (and we all here) have understood that you prefer the 6.75 engine.
