Which cooper s to buy

I am looking to purchase a Mini Cooper s as a fun / fast road car, it will not do a huge amount of mileage, the question is which one to go for, is it worth going for a newer turbo car or an earlier supercharged car. I am quite happy to spend some money on tuning. Thanks for any advise.
