Thought it would be good to start a new thread on order status.

I had contact from dealer today saying will have my order number and eta at end of month.

Nothing from mine yet. Will chase next week.

I'm dreading what they are going to offer on the Challenge...

I'm desperate for a proper review and video. Especially as mine was to be built this week and now on hold.

Whenever I see TGE on my YT recommendation, I delete it in 0.1 sec from my feed. His content is utterly atrocious.
I know. It's almost enough to make me want to cancel ! spin

Got the call from the dealer that it's in. Now I'm in a quandary as this review is out too - https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/mini/jcw-gp

Kinda confirming my worst fears, they won't let me test drive it, obviously that the only way you would really know...

It really does sound like it's a lot like an R, as in very capable but not involving at all and I've driven a couple of R's in anger.

I've asked what the deal would be against the Challenge anyway as will be interesting to see the one way street ie buying/selling in operation.

Seems strange that there are no proper reviews really anywhere still....

If you can't test drive it you have to look to them I'm afraid.

As for on track, that's about fun for me and that comes from involvement I'm not in a race and don't need super quick times.

I'm sorry for putting a downer on it but 37k now is sounding a lot of money for me for what? Less involvement, Less adjustability, Less rare but more power and gadgets?

Must admit I was looking forward to CarPlay and heated seats!!!!!!

Any owners in south east would let me come out with them? You could have a go in the Challenge?!!

Got the call from dealer today...

15K

They offered me 15k for my 10,000 mile Challenge edition. In the dealer network there are 3 on sale the cheapest is 25k with 25,000 miles on the clock. So now Mini dealers want a 10k mark up. Didn't want to offer a deal of any kind on the GP either.

Cheers guys, yes I’m keeping the Challenge.

I will try and test drive a GP when they either have some hanging around or second hand. It’s what I did with the Challenge as you couldn’t test drive them either. I was just lucky I found one later with 20 miles on the clock!

Evo review in!

A not bad 4 stars

"Some cars flow down a road and work with the driver, but as things stand the GP feels a little too much like a car fighting with itself and its pilot, entertaining only in small doses."

Just cancelled my order and collected one of these instead. I guess time will tell if I’ve done the right thing.
Strangely, on the way up to collect, passing Oxford I noticed 5 GPs on their way to their owners. Look very nice, but I’m happy with my choice in the end.
Funny enough....

Hmmm

You can say most cars are not perfect for different reasons and functions as cars…

But what we are talking about here is drivers cars and as a side the GT4 is pretty much a perfect drivers car in the modern world.. Unfortunately the GP is sounding like it really is not and has lost that Mini magic that most on this sub forum love. I can’t pass real judgement until I’ve driven one as is the correct way and will as soon as some come on the real second hand market.

It does seem like that I dodged a bullet though as it doesn’t sound like it’s my kind of car. That whole launch with the influencers (goofs) where they weren’t allowed to drive it was very dodgy and set alarm bells ringing. Then the weird bunch of videos of the first deliveries that didn’t tell you anything about how they drove. A lot of the slow drip of reviews etc was probably down to Covid I’m sure. But at last these 2 video reviews are what I’ve been waiting for, proper in car driving hard assessments. A car (a hot hatch) that you leave in auto for track work?

As said it’s not for me and I’m sure the people that have got one love it and it looks so freaky fast!
