Hi All!

I’ve now owned my Clubman JCW for a few weeks and managed 800 miles in it so far. I’m really happy with it and love driving it, so much fun!

I traded in my Jaguar F Pace S after 2 years and a disappointing 7000 miles (I bought it to replace my old Mercedes C Class which averaged 15k a year but then COVID hit). Really liked the Jaguar but an offer of 0 loss after that time tempted me too much!

My Wife is on to her 5th MINI and I have always enjoyed driving them so good to have 1 for myself at last.

I still haven’t sussed out all the features but driving it has been a lot of fun. Properly quick thing so I’m needing to try and show some restraint!

Some obligatory pics.

Thanks for the replies👍 I know these are a bit marmite but I am really loving it.

Not sure the exact black shade, will see if I can find out.

It has the leather lounge seats which are really comfy rather than the standard sports seats. For me they are a must as a commuter car.

Off out in it again later into the countryside, can’t wait!

Oh joy. 2 weeks of ownership and someone has hit my car and driven off without leaving a note. Scratch and dent on the bonnet which makes me thing a large SUV or truck of some sort. Not the worst but my eyes are drawn to it. Hate how people can do that.

I know MINI’s are a marmite brand and Clubman even more so. But I just love it.

Haven’t washed it yet but it’s due both inside and out ASAP.

It does use a lot of fuel but I’m sure that’s my driving style and leaving it constantly in sport mode. If it has rained and I set off with the windows open I get soaked. Can’t think of any other downsides so far.

Current pic attached.

Sorry Mark H I missed your post! Glad you are enjoying it and haven’t regretted downsizing. Agree on the electric seats! My last 3 daily drivers have had them and taken them for granted and now missing them.

This is the 1st car since my Boxster S that I just look for an excuse to drive! Absolutely love it, so much fun!

Hi All and advance merry Christmas!

Car has now done 6k mileage and I still love it! I have though noticed a rattle coming from the engine bay under hard acceleration at 3-4K revs. I’ve checked and nothing seems loose. Performance seems unaffected and oil level is fine. Only started over the past few weeks. I’ve booked it into Mini to check early in the new year. Probably nothing but want to be sure while it’s in warranty.

Hi Brainpox, thanks for replying!

My Wife had a most recent model JCW hatch before I bought this, and it certainly feels very similar! Although that may be a very different feel to a GP2! It certainly feels a lot different to her 2004 Supercharged Cooper S, a lot more solid and “grown up” if that makes sense.

Every time I floor it though it makes me smile, it is properly quick!

Sorry, forgot the barn door question. I am used to reversing in to spaces and so it has caught me out a few times! It’s not the most practical design although the boot is a good size (for me anyway). If you reverse in to a tight space with limited room behind then can’t open the boot, or if you can, may have to squeeze past the doors to get things in. Takes some getting used to!

Filled the car and went for a 70 mile blast around the country. Nearly used half a tank! Overtook so many slow people. Loved it! Been ages since I proper ragged it about like a hooligan!

Also a quick ownership update. I’m just under 10k miles and I have had to add 1 litre of oil. It’s had 4 new tyres (Goodyear F1 Eagles), been very pleased with them. The 2 fronts needed doing and then I got an unrepairable puncture in 1 of the rears (typical). It hasn’t had a service yet although according to the computer it’s due in 6k miles. Enjoyed the car very much!

Finally got around to getting 3 dents in the bonnet repaired. To my untrained eyes looks like new again. Car is now just under 11k miles after a year. Still brings a smile every time I drive it. No MINI should be this quick really.

Thanks for the feedback both! Un1eash, my wife had the same model JCW hatch as yours also in chilli red and it was so good (what finally convinced me to get a MINI)! I still prefer the shape of the hatch over the Clubman but I need the extra space l, especially with a new daughter!

Love the Cooper S also. Just great fun cars, glad you are enjoying yours a lot.

Just to add, very randomly I saw another JCW Clubman in the same colour and stripes as mine this evening in Southport! Especially surprising as I hardly see any other Clubman JCW let alone in the same colour. Don’t think they sold in big numbers!

I still find my F56 JCW more than quick enough for having fun. 231bhp in a small lightish hatch goes rather well, and tbh I don't even feel the need to tune it.
Agree there! My wife’s old 1 never felt like it needed more power. Great fun as standard.

Had our JCW now for 18 months and just passed 16,000 miles.

Just returned from a month trip to the Algarve where we took the JCW and covered 3,800 miles.

It’s a really good all round car. I like the fact it’s a relatively small car (by modern standards) and yet is practical. It's fun to drive, has a good turn of speed and has all the tech we need.

Gratuitous picture from one of our recent overnight stopovers
Thanks for sharing! Looks a nice colour combo you picked. I have never done a proper long road trip like you have done but would absolutely love to (especially to somewhere nice like the Algarve). Glad you enjoy the car and agree with everything you have said.

Clean before a drive around the back roads of Lancashire. Still enjoy it a lot. Minor gripe though, drivers seat has developed a small but annoying rattle. Will get it looked at when it goes for its 1st service in a few months.

Meant to add this to the previous post. Now that it is dark early and the headlights are on a lot I have been getting flashed a lot by oncoming cars. I’ve checked and the auto main beam isn’t on. Never had this on any previous car. The lights must be dazzling oncoming cars. Will get Mini to check when it has its 1st service. Very annoying and don’t want to be causing hassle for others on the road.
