Can't believe no updates!
Well my prediction re. Quins seems unfortunately to be coming home to roost: another poor performance and subsequent injuries and bans over the next few games...
With the predicted (usual) slump later in the year over 6N period and performances in the first two games so far I'm feeling uncomfortable already.
I'm also not holding out much hope for Quins this year. I think Brown is well past his best, Care looked awful against Bristol, and in general they just seemed to have no direction. If they'd started out against any of last year's top 6, they would've been crucified. Well my prediction re. Agreed - no wins from those three games.
And as for Stade Francais in the Cup......don't hold out much hope for that game either!
Indeed. How does a team with so many internationals in it manage to perform so poorly as a team together? And as for Stade Francais in the Cup......don't hold out much hope for that game either!
But maybe they'll wake up and stuff Sarries! One must always hope..

Well the good news is that my prediction of losses against Sarries, Wasps, Saints and Stde Francais was nearly a complete 100% reversal.
The bad news is our current position and points versus the top four at this stage of the season still feels like our Premiership season is already over...
Still early days yet. Bath haven't played either Sarries or Wasps yet, have they? The bad news is our current position and points versus the top four at this stage of the season still feels like our Premiership season is already over...
Not strictly on topic, but I doubt we're going to get a sustainable thread about European rugby on its own, so I figured it might as well come in here.
There have been some surprising cricket scores this weekend!
Quins, Lyon & Gloucester all won by 20 points or more with bonus points, and Gloucester & Lyon did it away from home. That might've been expected against the comedy Italian and Eastern European victims, but they were all playing French Top 14 sides!

I'm on the train on the way home from Big Game 9 with a happy, knackered 8 yr old.
The poor first half was more than made up for by the excitement of the second half, with Quins holding on for the win as the cherry on top.
Gloucester were also the opponents for this fixture last year, with the two results being a 39 all draw and a 28-24 win to Quins today, both of which went right down to the last play.
I rather hope we can have Gloucester as the opponents every year for this match, as it makes for some great rugby, and their fans are really nice too.

I was there as a "neutral" good 2nd half... Quins fans really need some more inventive songs / chants ...
This is very true. Although my son and I had good fun with the Gloucester ladies in the row behind us, the atmosphere in general isn't great, and it's not just because Twickenham is so bloody massive, as the Stoop doesn't generate much atmosphere either. One that did amuse me was the Quins fans timing the chant of "Har-le-quins, Har-le-quins" to to match the Exeter Indian chant during the Anglo-Welsh cup match.

I'm a long term tiger's fan and my father in law has been a season ticket holder for a very very long time. In fact, my wife's entire family are all born and bred Tiger's fans and not one of us thinks he should have gone. As you say, despite not being at the very pinnacle of the league, we are still 5th and are still up to beating anyone.
Whilst everyone knows we're just not good enough right now, given his record and obvious knowledge of what makes a winning team it seems odd to get rid of him. I can only imagine that there is some sort of clash between him and the board because I do not believe that replacing him mid season is going to suddenly increase our performance, especially as the problem at the moment is inconsistency.
Having said all that, I'm happy to be wrong if it means we start playing better!

Part of the problem, I think, is that he's always come over as somewhat arrogant and unpleasant, and that has maybe come back to bite him. His attitude is one thing when they're winning all the time, but when the results aren't there, it rapidly sounds very hollow, and I could easily see the management losing confidence in him.Whilst everyone knows we're just not good enough right now, given his record and obvious knowledge of what makes a winning team it seems odd to get rid of him. One point which to my mind really illustrated this was in his post match interview after the Munster game. Even he had to be humble after that sort of stuffing, but he just couldn't help himself in looking to lay off some of the blame by accusing their recent opponents in the Premiership of not pushing them hard enough.
If their recent Premiership results had been complete drubbings of the opposition, then his arrogant attitude might well have been justified, but their previous two Premiership outings saw them beat an out of sorts Northampton team by only 8 points at home and cough up a losing bonus point to Bristol, so hardly crushing victories for Tigers.

meanwhile away from the hurly burly of the mid table and disappointed east midlanders - Worcester actually played a decent game of rugby. Not sure whether to be pleased or shocked,
Although what on earth is going on with Quins???Yet to lose at home, yet to win on the road... I've got a season ticket with my youngest for the second half of the season, and there's every chance he'll not see them lose a match, yet still not make it into Europe!

Much to annoyance of my older brother who's a Quins season ticket holder. Of course, I do not take pleasure in it at all... Yet to lose at home, yet to win on the road... My youngest and I have our first (half) season ticket match this coming Saturday, which hasn't gone down too well, considering that it's also his older sister's birthday!
