Morning All,

I know we are already on the 4th T20, but its a busy tour and lots of matches coming up.

48 ball century this morning Malan taking England to our highest T20 score

Feels a bit flat after the World Cup win, but we really need to sort the Test side out

One NZ Spinner went for 28 from one over. Ouch !

Sounds brutal hitting, Morgan 91 of 41 balls !

Alex Hales, you silly boy...if he wasn’t such a lad, we could have one of the most feared batting line ups in the world.

Some amazing cricket.

Chris Jordan 12 off the last three balls to tie the match. Bairstow 47 off 18 balls. A super over and all kinds of batting carnage.

Looked fun. Shame the time zones means is total impractical to watch it.

Two tests to come.

Don’t seem to learn do we. Get the foot on the throat and keep it there.

Stokes must be furious, does all the hard yards and then this.

Expect Buttler is pissed too, now he has to swing away instead of batting like a test player.

If anyone comes back later to ever question Buttler in the test side and quotes his average, yeah, its moments like this that screw it up.

I cannot muster any fks to give, its a long way away in the middle of the night and I am pretending its not happening.

Something something experimental side, rebuilding.

Root remains a terrible captain apart from all the others we haven’t got. Bowlers bowling to short, Leach still looks a better batsman than someone in the top four every innings. Broad hasn’t got it on a flat track anymore.

Apart from that - yeah all is peachy.

We do seem to grind though, players seem to be afraid to attack, after all the talk of needing to bat long, we also have to score.

Anyway - fair play to Root, that knock pretty much guarantees we won’t lose this one.

Same old same old.

The selectors have been following the English football FA selection mentality for too long. And Root is not captain material. Was given that role waaaaaay too soon.

The team is in grave danger of unraveling if the selectors don't get a grip, which should include telling Root to focus on his batting.

We have some great players. But we don't have a team to string together. And this has been a problem for our side for a good while now.

Still chuffed that we lifted the World Cup this year, and little will ever beat that final (and whooping the Aussies in the semi). But we now need to decide where the teams are going from here. Major change required.
Not sure its that bad, Denly is making a decent go of it, Leach is ill, Buttler injured. Jimmy A will play in SA.

Biggest concern is Woakes cannot bowl on flat decks and Root is not the right captain for Archer to be a strike bowler.

Playing no spinner here was a terrible error.

Any criticism of Archer at this stage must be coming from those unfamiliar with the early stages of a Test Cricket career.

He started playing test cricket in the summer, he has less than ten games, has never bowled with this type of ball, has never played these batsman, has never bowled in SA etc etc

He is finding his way, he has Jimmy A and Broad to guide him, Root probably over bowls him, and he often pitches too short, but England have pitched it too short for years, so its no surprise.

Archer needs a little tuning up to get 92mph out of him, and yes he only gets there in short spells. That is fairly standard.

He remains a great threat and is looking pretty sharp at the moment.

Well with 4 / 69 Archer is hopefully living up to the hype today at least.

170-3 and battling

I went for a swim, come back and we are all out?

No fight in this side at the moment. Root, Stokes, Bairstow and Buttler have to put on more runs.

Not too long ago Bairstow was making regular centuries in Tests.

Ok a few have been ill, but Root seems to accept mediocrity easily, plus he can never get the bowlers through the overs quickly enough, another fine and docked points coming our way

I can’t help but feel it’s now or never for Jimmy Andersen.

Pope looks in good nick, and James has all day tomorrow to get the next 97 runs he needs.

England expects, Jimmy

Well Jimmy A delivers a massive fk you to the selectors who have been thinking of ‘resting’ him

5/40 off 19 Overs. That is some going.

Great display of control.

Yep 5 days. Test cricket is all about a fight to the death. 4 days, it will just turn into yet another type of 'limited overs' style game.
Yes exactly, we will see gimme declarations and a whole bunch of draws. Additionally spinners will be even more marginalized.

Day five spinners are a thing to treasure, not legislate out of the game.

I want to see two spinners versus two lads in caps, slugging it out on day five with 45 runs to get, 3 wickets and 10 overs left...

Day one satisfactory
Not the last word in entertainment though is it.. I get that slow attritional dull cricket early in a test can set up exciting stuff later. But today was really one for the purist. 90 overs 510 balls for 224. Denlys strike rate being a low point.

Still whatever, its a dead pitch and we need to make 400 at least. So a reasonable attempt.

I call draw.

Rabada banned from 4th Test for unnecessarily exuberant celebration. Bit petty - spoils a good contest.
OK that is sort of true, it was deemed a level 1 offence and therefore was one demerit point. However if you have 4 within 24 months then you get a suspension.

Rabada previously served a two match suspension for shoulder barging Steve Smith, sine when he has accumulated another three points. Two of which are for exactly the same offence - Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.

15% match fee and 1 point.

Buttler got the same fine and point, he just doesn't have any others in the last 24 months.

edit, I should have siad, I also think its bullst, he didn't make any gestures or ruse remarks, he just screamed ! I have seen Stokes and Jimmy A do very similar.

Rabada copped for it anyway, just admitted it and didn't even bother the match referee !
