Happy New Year fellow golfers!
A pretty good 2019 chopped 3 shots from my handicap, down to 11.1. Won 5 comps this year (3 singles and 2 foursomes).
Hoping that 2020 can get another cut of 1.7 to see me play off the hallowed ground that is single figures..... fingers crossed!
May also invest in some new clubs, existing set up is 6 years old now and I could probably do with being re-fit (was 17 handicap when I bought these!).
Also hoping to tick a few more courses off of the English Top 100 list, I've currently played 15 of them.
Off to Portugal in March to play at Monte Rei, and also marshalling at the Open at Royal St Georges. Bring it on!
Happy golfing!

I was torn between these and the p790s just the flip of a coin in the end, but Im a sucker for changing and mizuno will more than likely by my next clubs.
It's interesting how people see things so differently!I'm not a big fan of TM stuff, and generally like my lofts to be pretty traditional.
As is it the MP20 MMC's are 1 degree stronger than my current irons. I certainly wouldn't want to lose 3 degrees!
My only reservation about the MMC's is 'am I good enough?!' Having said that I plan on putting some serious work into my golf once the clocks go forward so can really work on them.

One thing I didn't / don't take into account is the lofts, whenever I'm changing I put more than enough practice in for the gapping / yardages so I see it as a little irrelevant.
Things I always base my purchases on are -
General performance - flight, spin forgiveness
Feel - while the p790s feel good, you can't beat the mizunos here
Looks - imo both are probably the best looking clubs at this budget ( I'd take the pxg over both if I could) but the p790 have the edge for my eye
If you're playing off 11 I'm assuming you have a decent strike anyway, so I'd say you would easily be good enough to justify buying them, just make sure you get a proper fir for them to get the most out of them
Cheers! I'll let you know how I get on when I get fitted in a few weeks. Yesterday my swing speed with a 7 iron was 87mph, which I think is pretty healthy. Things I always base my purchases on are -

I had a try of these over winter in my search for a new 3 iron - went in thinking I was going to get something forgiving and easy to use, like what the pros do.
Of course I came out having only tried the MP20 MB and Titleist 620MB, and having ordered the MB 3 iron
Haha, brilliant! They're lovely clubs.... going to book in for my club measure soon!Of course I came out having only tried the MP20 MB and Titleist 620MB, and having ordered the MB 3 iron
@bodhi
I'm extremely lucky with regards hitting off turf - we probably have one of the driest courses in the country! And our range is..... turf!
Even during this wettest of winters we've played main tees, main greens and we don't play prefered lies/winter rules. Thank God for sandy links!

Very nice, not sure I would change my p790s for them, but Id be happy to own a set.
Was good to hit alternate shots with each, very similar and hard to tell much difference, the sound and feel the mizuno may have the edge, much preferred the ball flight on the p790s did balloon up as much, distance don't think there was anything in it at all
Did you have them in the same shaft? May need a different one?Was good to hit alternate shots with each, very similar and hard to tell much difference, the sound and feel the mizuno may have the edge, much preferred the ball flight on the p790s did balloon up as much, distance don't think there was anything in it at all
This is a good deal, lads!

That is a stonking deal, the Z-Stars are still £39 per doz at American Golf!
Our place actually dried out enough over the weekend to go for a game yesterday - battled through 30 mph winds, rain, snow, a bit of hail, and then sunshine for the back 9 - just had a bounce game but went round in 82, which given the conditions and the fact I couldn't putt I was quite happy with.

Have fun,
Some years back , my wife was involved in sponsorship for the euro PGA tour physio bus, long before I was even interested in golf, and we had 8 debentures to play there!
I used to go along to the big events with her and it just seemed like watching paint dry at the time (:
Friends used to love it, always popping in to see what they could scrounge from the room full of giveaways, balls , shirts etc. Still got a few umbrellas.
Cheers, it's a great track (played it a year ago as well). Just hope it isn't too wet, but we've had a pretty dry week this week so hopefully all will be OK! There's only so many times you can hit a 15-20 foot putt in the living room.
I'm lucky to have a big garden, but again there's only so many times you want to hit some chips and pitches!
I'm praying that the enforced break will do me good, going to have a lesson as soon as it's open and hope the muscle memory has faded and I can make my swing better!
