Rick Shiels golf videos
Discussion
I have been watching these golf videos for a while now, where the very enthusiastic Rick Shiels tests out clubs, takes on challenges with golf pros, all kinds of golf related stuff. In this one he is playing St Andrews with a current tour pro, with a twist. They are playing the old, back to front version of the Old Course, and Rick is using a set of hickory shafted vintage clubs.

Golf still, but from a very different angle I enjoy stacked golf. A couple that go around thrift shops and car boot sales buying clubs to sell, then try then out afterwards.
Light hearted, but an entertaining couple.
I think Rick references Golfbidder quite a lot and he really enjoys going around golf shops, trying to bag a bargain. I became a bit addicted to Golfbidder back in 2003/2004, bought a few clubs from there. The trouble is, I haven't sold any. I have an old, shabby set of Mizuno TP originals, an almost mint set of the same, which sadly I can not hit very well, Callaway S2H2 irons in decent condition. I have my favourite ever clubs, Orlimar Trimetal irons and woods with stiff graphite shafts, various putters.Light hearted, but an entertaining couple.
Thanks to everyone who has posted links to other golf related videos, they will certainly keep me busy for some time.

Rick and Pete where sponsored by Golf Bidder and did a year match against other using secondhand clubs. They did a lot more videos which each other, plus Matt Fryer but since Pete and Rick joined management companies they have focused on their own stuff. Thanks to everyone who has posted links to other golf related videos, they will certainly keep me busy for some time.
They both tend to do more click bait style videos which work as their subs have exploded. Fair play to them though
Thank God for Golfbidder.

I wonder if anyone has ever watched a YouTube video and it has helped their game?
Back in the day - 70's/80's we only had books, but with a video, you can see the rhythm of the swing, watch how players set up to the ball, see how they take the club back, so I think it can definitely help your game.toasty said:

Golf Sidekick's break 80, 90, 100 videos are very good and focus on the mindset. I'm always hovering around the 95-105 mark so watched the break 100 series before a match and shot 86. I really should watch it more often.Challo said:

That makes sense, although I think Golfbidder are great. I certainly wouldn't have shot the scores I have, without experimenting with different clubs. I bought an Orlimar (people hadn't heard of them over here in the UK) 7 wood from GB for very little money. I used to be a "range junkie" hitting 2-300 balls a day and when I hit the 7 wood, people would ask me where they could buy that club. I soon added the 3 wood and the driver, but then tried a Callaway Big Bertha driver and found that I could hit both controlled draws and fades with that.
Thank God for Golfbidder.
To be honest I avoid golfbidder. You get much better deals looking locally on FB or on Ebay. Thank God for Golfbidder.
Not Rick, but two very, very good US golfers, take on 9 holes at Gleneagles, just using a pitching wedge.
