It's painful so far. Like watching your local team play.
I’m there on Saturday. I bloody hope the atmosphere is better than tonight.

First day I've sat down to watch the darts in these championships and the crowd.... shocking.

"Boring, boring tables". "Stand up if you love the darts", "Kolo/Yaya Toure song", "Chase The Sun" after every set and that's about it. Oh, and "Don't take me home"....

And some of the announcers think they are celebrities with the way they shout the scores, Russ Bray being the worst.

Almost unwatchable now with the sound up.
What on earth were you expecting?

Ha, fair point but it literally is the same regurgitated st in every game, I thought it might vary a little. Occasionally you get a top star like MVG or RVB who have their own songs and fans, I guess, but the vast majority is just banal rubbish.
Been twice this year and I’m very glad some things don’t change.

While not World Championship, Fallon Sherrock became the first women's PDC darts player to hit a 9 dart finish in a PDC tournament
Ridiculous the amount of fragile egos who were calling it fake as there's no video of it (because it was a non televised floor tournament).
It's not surprising. Fallon has proved on a number of occasions that she can hold her own. She came within a gnats cock of beating MvG in a televised event final, so why can't she throw a 9 dart finish?

She will continue to improve and I hope she manages to win a PDC major.
Ditto. I was there when she beat Mensur at the Worlds, atmosphere was unreal, fingers firmly crossed we see her again this year.

At last! The draw is being done live on Sky Sports at 1630 on Monday!! Fingers firmly crossed, over my two days I'd die a happy man if I could see Barney, Fallon and Wade. I lucked out massively one year seeing both Barney and Phil in his final year......even got a high five from Phil on the walk on.

@mods are you able to amend the thread title to 2023/2024?

Humphries will win it this year, The form he is in makes him unbeatable at the moment.
Josh Rock should go far, but still doesn’t have the right mental strength to win it, Stephen Bunting should also have a good run this year as well..
It’s a pity Beau Greaves has decided not to play, the money she will win for winning the women’s competition is probably to much for her to turn down.
Didn't actually watch it last night, but Humphries racks up another PDC televised win at the Players Championship!

Draw for the Worlds is 1630 today, Sky Sports News.

World's draw happened yesterday, but I totally forgot the actual schedule doesn't get released yet - guess they need to work it out. So I still have no idea who I'll be seeing. Sounds like a tough opening match for Fallon though.

Schedule has been released, I'll be seeing Chisnall and Cross over my two days. Not the draws I'd want but that's the risk you take. Probably rather watch my favourite matches at home and actually pay attention to be fair.

TBH I saw that coming for Smith. MVG has to be in pole now?
Yeah, must be.

I’m a massive RVB fan, but not sure I can see him getting past the teenager. Even if he does, can’t see anyone getting past MVG when it comes to the crunch.

Wasn't sure who I wanted to win, but now that Humphries has won it, I'm pleased he did, so clearly I didn't want the teenager to win. Plenty of time for him to win lots of titles.

Forgot this was being announced.

I wonder who is going to be most disappointed about not making the cut to make way for Littler.

Not many missing IMO from that list. Possibly Danny Noppert, Stephen Bunting or Chris Dobey, but Dobey was in it last year. Apart from Littler, they are all in the top 8 anyway and Noppert ranked 7 is the only top 8 player missing. Gary Anderson could have been included I suppose, but he's ranked 27 and as great as he is, I don't think he'd be deserving of a slot this year.

Yeah can't argue with that. Now you've said though, I am gutted Gary's not in there.
I think Snakebite is probably the only one I'm truly going to be backing out of that list.
I wonder if my usual faves like Wade, Barney, Whitlock etc will ever make it back in.......Wade most likely I guess.
