Went last year to the festival of speed and loved it despite the weather. Although as it was a spur of the moment thing we had to travel 50 minutes for our nearest Hotel. We are planning to go down on the Friday evening due to the length of the drive and stay for two nights. Only problem is it seems most venues are already fully booked. Anyone have any recommendations Hotel or Camping that are within 30 minutes of Goodwood that are not fully booked? Will be 2 adults and 2 children.

Portsmouth Harbour to Chichester is 30 mins on the train. Gunwharf Quays is next to Portsmouth Harbour station and there's a Holiday Inn Express there as well as stacks of restaurants and things to do of an evening.
Would rather drive to be honest. Plus you have storage for all your grub, wellies etc. We stayed at pompy last time but after a long day all we wanted to do was sleep.

You are unlikely to find anything closer, I live in Portsmouth and the journey is quicker than 50min.
When i meant stayed at pompy. it was classed in the pompy region but closer to Fareham. Looks like I lucked out and found a Premier inn in Portsmouth North Harbour so only 16 miles away. Daylight robbery on price but I guess that is to be expected as nothing related to Goodwood is cheap. Here is to hoping for fine weather!

I stayed at a campsite near Arundel, booked it a couple of weeks before and there was still room on the weekend of the show. Can't remember the name but it was next to the A27 and a Premier Inn. Took 15-20 minutes to get to FOS from there.
We would love to do that. Especially the kids but after the mud fest last year I wouldn't want to risk it.
