Hi all,

I just got the invitation to upgrade to a full GRRC membership, having been on the fellowship for 3 years. I was expecting to have to wait another few years so was somewhat surprised.

I saw something on Instagram the other day about some significant changes to the membership benefits i.e. no longer offering free Thursday FOS tickets. I wonder if me being suddenly offered full membership is in anyway connected to these changes putting people off renewing thiers.

Would love to hear from current members if they think the membership is still worth paying for? I would typically go to the FOS and Revival every year and maybe start doing the members meeting.

Thanks.

Ah what a shame. I'd been looking forward to becoming a member for years. Looks as though it's not what I thought it was at all. I wonder how big the membership churn has been as a result of these changes.

Seems pretty crazy that a 5 year waitlist has become a two year one in the space of a few weeks (I only renewed my 3rd year fellowship a few days ago).

With figures of 10k plus (and as you say for family members that’s 2 x badges and 4 x paddock passes) it doesn’t feel particularly exclusive anymore. You start to think it might be nearer to 15k with family membership. That said it hasn’t felt any less or more busy at the Revival for the past couple of years and the immediate pre-Covid times.
Why are Goodwood so concerned about releasing the numbers I wonder?
15,000 members would be around £5m a year revenue before anyone buys any tickets. Not bad at all...

I started this thread and ultimately decided not to upgrade my membership. I couldn't find a single reply in this thread or any others justifying the cost, which would have been £500 for the first year. I'll put myself back on the waiting list to see if things have improved in a few years time.

A real shame that it's not what I thought it was.
