AS it's now getting closer to September and I haven't seen a thread yet,

Is anyone on here taking part in revolve 24?

For those who don't know what it is, it's a 24 hour relay event taking place at Brands Hatch.
You can either take part in a team of 1, 4, 6 or 8.

I'm in a team of 6 with a few mates and looking forward to getting to ride on a lovely surfaced track.

The night riding part of it should be pretty good too.

Glad some others are doing/done it.

What did you all do for food etc?

Training wise, I've been going out every weekend doing 25 miles minimum and up to 70 miles on one occasion.
have you been keeping in touch with the leaderboard on their app?

Not too sure what to do about food, was thinking about taking a slow cooker and leaving something in it so that people had hot food when ever it's needed.

We're currently at 26th on the app but slightly confused as to how it's worked that out, we're not looking to take it too seriously just want to get to the end.

I've been a bit up and down with training, try and get out once or twice a week (although constant rain isn't helping with enthusiasm) also have the London 100 to worry about first.
I was planning on lots of cereal and flapjack etc, along with stuff like pasta salads.

That's good. We're down in 34th. It's worked out by distance, altitude and average speed, averaged against team size ( I think).

I wanted to do the London 100 but didn't get a place.

Thought I'd give this a bump considering it's this weekend

How did everyone get on?

The team I was in finished 37th (Team 184 - Sprocket Rocket)

I had an incredible time. Fastest lap of 7:30 flat and didn't go over 8:40 all weekend which was the fastest grouping of my team of 6.

Never ridden in the rain or at night so that was a 1st (I was out 5-6pm, 11pm-12am, 5am-6am) then we switched to 3 laps
I got the worst of the rain which made the first corner interesting with the crosswind but I thoroughly enjoyed going round in the pitch black.

I also was out on track as the sun started to make an appearance on the Sunday morning, which is something quite special.

The hardest part for me? Wasn't the cycling or the lack of sleep, but trying to find something you want to eat at 3am after having a couple of hours sleep in the back of a car.

Event was great, people were great, the track was great and I'm doing it again next year.

They have until tomorrow to get it done!

It's a really good track. Don't expect it to be super smooth though, it's more concrete in feel than fresh tarmac.

What bikes do people have?

Going to try and keep an eye out for everyone.

I'll be on my orange specialized tarmac, probably wearing Ale' jerseys.

There was a dude riding the 24 Solo last year on a full TT bike and aero clothing... less the aero extensions. That did not look comfortable or particularly fast! He did very well though from memory so who am I to judge!

I'm feeling ok ahead of the weekend. We have a plan as a team and I am purchasing bacon for the morning to give me a well needed 'pick me up' after the night stint. I really suffered on my 7am stint after having had a couple of hours sleep and so am going to try and get up little earlier and pack down some calories as soon as I wake up to give myself a lift.
Try to get the stint where the sun comes up.
Nothing gave me a lift as much as seeing the sun appear over the trees as I was lapping. It was beautiful.

I've been shamelessly drafting everyone
Turns out you go a hell of a lot faster with half the effort

I had a fairly dissapointing time tbh.

Firstly we signed up as a 6 and in the end only had 4 people actually do it. This year I was in really good shape up until june when I got married and didn't go on the bike for a month, That followed by a hard first ride after and 100miles in one weekend messed up my knee.
I foolishly carried on thinking it would heal but it never did.

So onto Revolve. I started this year and smashed out a 6:09 and 6:23 first two laps and 90% of my laps afterwards for my first two hour stints were faster than my fastest last year (7:31). I also got the KOM within my team (15.8 sec - Last year was in the 20s)

Also having the bike parked outside the garage and see people walk past and stop to have a look made me happy.

I managed 4 one hour rides before I could no longer walk so decided to call it quits. Leaving my team to finish the last 7 hours on their own as a 3.

I'm happy that I was so much faster than last year and we were on track to beat last years lap total but I'm really dissapointed about my knee and having to leave my team like that. That on it's own ruined my weekend. It was so much colder this year as well which I found killed the fun.

However, we will be back next year and I for one will be stronger, fitter and faster (along with some more fancy bits for the bike)

I had a great time! Pablo and I did the 6 as a pair and rode well finished 5th out of 69 people in the event which we were chuffed with.

Was good to meet a couple of you (Baker and a few others) a few others from the forum popped down to see us as well. Generally a good atmosphere at the event and everyone in the 6 garage was enjoying themselves.

I'll likely do the 6 as a pair again next year.
That's quite funny as I was in garage 7!

So the big question is who is going to do it next year?

I'm certainly planning on it. I want to get a lap in the 5 mins.

Last year, I rode 4 laps under 7 minutes and the rest were all 7 minute somethings... this year I rode 7 laps under 6 minutes and the rest (all but the changeover laps) were in the 6 minute somethings.... Keep believing and get in the fast group on the first lap and 5 minute laps can become a reality!
It's annoying because Strava puts my 1st lap at 6:09 but Revolve says 6:23.
I'm happy though as I didn't even push for that lap, it pinged up on my Garmin as 6:09 and i didn't believe it.
Sub 6 mins is definitely on the cards for me next year.

I found riding in the groups quite frustrating at times. On the flat I would be with them and having to constantly brake as the speed fluctuated (freewheeling) and then up the hills I'd leave them behind.

It's not fun but a large part of the appeal is simply because it's such an arduous thing to do. The more extreme the more I'm drawn to it. I'd be off chasing Beaumont's new record if I could smile I don't think it's too different to seeking out hills to climb, perhaps just a little further along the same scale.
Because nothing is more fun at 3am on a cold september morning to be smashing round a circuit after getting 1 hr sleep.

Didn't enjoy last year as much as we wanted to so doing Velo South instead.

Should be doing it again next year though.

I've entered the 24 as part of a team of 4, not sure how well we'll get on as haven't done a lot of training, starting to get a little concerned now.
I wouldn't worry too much.
You'll run on Adrenalin all weekend and doing 1hr runs works quite well.

Most difficult thing is finding stuff to eat at silly times in the morning. It's not a difficult course, you just have to take it steady.

As long as the weather is okay, then it will be fine.
