Hi all - really need help if possible,

My facebook account appears to be having issues as I have lost access to it on my desktop and as such I have also now lost access to my Strava account as I can only login to it from facebook.

I have access to both still on my phone but only as they remain logged in from there. I have exhausted attempts to recover my account on facebook, I know have to wait as I have entered too many codes, despite them being correct. All I get is error pages.

My strava account is linked to facebook therefore I have no direct email address / password login. I can't access it and there is no way to do anything. Does anyone know how I can at least regain control of Strava? I can't imagine losing out the last few years of data, it doesn't bear thinking about.

Thanks

You can't - facebook have no direct means of contacting. I have been through the recovery process repeatedly and have been going round in circles, the codes I get to my phone and email did not work and now I have exhausted the code limit. Facebook do not have a help function or a contact function, you simply have to try and do what you can with their recovery page.

Pissing about in here? I have spent the last 2 hours trying to recover my account and am now facing losing all my Strava access as the only way I can get into it is via facebook. I am desperate hence the plea for help.

Gazza - that page is one I have seen many times this evening. Will attempt to access it again tmrw once my pass code time limits have expired.

I have now managed to secure Strava direct with them - luckily. My advice- anyone who has Strava linked to their facebook only, gain an independent login. It wasn't easy and I almost lost 6 years worth of data - around 35 thousand miles of riding. I have not had a great night.

Check your email on the Strava phone app, then go to the Strava log in page and click the forgot password link...
The issue I had, which has now been resolved, is that it was only linked to facebook. In the time passed since the link I changed all my emails and passwords on facebook - so my existing Strava account was just hanging off old facebook data.

KOMs - if it's not on Strava it didn't happen!

Diz, did you rebuild your PC (as you were strongly advised to do so by others here on PH) after you inadvertently installed malware after you downloaded that dodgy copy of MS software?? Perhaps you will now, as you were so adamant that you had nothing remotely important on your PC (other than fricking Strava data).
I managed to remove all the malware on the PC so the threats were gone, this happened whilst I was away in a different part of th country, the PC was turned off at the time. I still can't get into Faecbook I just get a message saying "too many codes entered". There are absoutley no options to contact them or resolve it, I have tried the recover account page and the hacked pages and they all lead in circles back to the "enter a code" page then I just get error pages.

I must say, a network that has over 1 billion people using it probably is who I am siding with in terms of where the error is here.
Its statements like this that baffles me as to why it's always me that gets stick for my posts.

So by your logic, the "error" is with me for having my account hacked without my knowledge and then being unable to recover it due to Facebook appalling recovery method?

However it has come to be that someone has messed about with my account, it's not something I have any control over. Their password reset / recovery option has failed consistently, so much so that I can no longer use it as I have exhausted my attempt quota. Also, out of my control.

Luckily there is nothing on there that I can't live without, but, if it happens to you, it's not a pleasant experience.

Hang on I saw your post on the PC forum , didn't the hacking stem from trying to download knocked off MS software ? It's dificult to illicit sympathy if this the case . It's like people who boast to me how they download films for free and the next week can't work out why their pc keeps sending them to Russian brides websites ...

Give it another day and log a case with facebook , there will be a workaround I bet my soul on it

Also and more importantly , have you raised a support call with Strava ? Sof Facebook , go straight to strava , explain the situation clearly and have personal info on hand to prove yourself . If you pay for premium then it will be a piece of piss as you can verify yourself via your bank card and then link the account to a new email
I did have an issue with the PC but this was, to the best of my knowledge, resolved. I have numerous other accounts on my PC which would be worth hacking more than my facebook account, which there is hardly anything on anyway. There is nothing to say the issue I had a few weeks ago is linked with this issue, which came about when I was away from home with the desktop turned off for days.

I have sorted Strava, lost facebook but no great loss there. There really is no avenue of rectification if this happens, the recovery codes and password reset options just lead to error pages, pages that say "try again later" or blank internet pages. You CANNOT contact facebook, so good luck if this happens to any of your accounts as there is no rescuing it.

RTFT.

Strava was solved years ago. Around post 4 page 1 from memory.

As for facebook I have no idea the reasons for the issue. Please show me your apparent solution or contact details for Facebook that would be used when the password reset pages only ever end in 'error please try later'.

P.S. there aren't any.

Re the Strava issue - yes I had moment of panic hence why I posted about it. I did manage to resolve it thankfully very quickly - so I appreciate the advice given. I posted about it quickly as I actually care about my riding and history, as I am sure we all do. So fair enough re your comments, but I did post up early on that I had resolved Strava.

Facebook has been a different issue. I recovered my account yesterday from a totally different computer and location to my home one. My attempts to recover my account at home had frozen my recovery efforts. The link to the help page above is part of the circle of nonsense I was trying to use that wasn't working. Every time I followed the procedure it led me to "error" or "please try later" pages. And that was over a period of 3 days.

No idea what happened or why. But, Strava account thankfully secured.

I am sure as seasoned cyclists who care about our efforts, we can all relate to the possibilty of not only being unable to upload rides but also losing a vast amount of historic data. I have some great achievements recorded on there over the the years and personally I would be gutted to lose it all.
