Please help/share.

Those of you who know me well know that after my family my most treasured possessions are my bikes - overnight someone broke into my garage stole them. While I think there is little or no hope of recovering them please keep your eyes open for the following;

Colnago C60 in dark metallic blue fading to black (OFMA), 3T carbon bars and seatpost, Selle Italia SLR saddle, Dura Ace Di1 groupset, Stages Dura Ace left crank power meter, Zipp 303 wheels with Vittoria open corsa gumwall tyres - a true work of art and one off build.

Dedacciai K-19 (my 40th birthday present from my family) - a very distinctive Titanium bike - half of the frame is naked Titanium with some white paintwork and white lettering. Just in the middle of re-building it with full 105 groupset, Deda zero bar, stem and seatpost with a Selle Italia SL saddle. It has distinctive Campagnolo Zonda wheelset with Challenge Paris Roubaix tyres just fitted. As I was in the final stages of re-build the bars didn't yet have any bar tape wrapped on them.

In addition to the above bikes a 2013 Colnago CX-1 Evo frame in Red/White was stolen along with a set of Fulrcum Racing Zero wheels which had Vittoria open corsa gumwall tyres fitted to them.

To say I am devastated does not come close to how I'm feeling right now. I was lucky and privileged to own two such fantastic bikes and have little hope of ever seeing them again - please keep your eyes peeled and if you know anything please contact me or call the Police.

Thanks guys, I'm truly gutted - the more I think about it the more I am certain I was targeted and the thieves knew exactly what they were doing, there were other bikes in the garage which would have been much easier to steal which weren't touched. What is even more exasperating is that it now looks like they must have broken in and taken the bikes around 21:00 in the evening, just after I got back from a ride - so was probably followed, which in turn means they've probably been keeping an eye on me for a while.

Police won't be investigating, totally understand why as they say there is very little to go on and it's unlikely that they will have left prints on any surfaces that they could lift them from.

Insurance are already playing silly buggers, I called to report it this morning - due to the value of items taken they want to conduct and investigation, they also started to question the value of the bikes (which is odd as they were more than happy to insure them for the stated value).

I've had 'things' stolen from me in the past, never a nice experience but I've always taken it on the chin but for some reason this has rocked me to the core. One bike was my 40th birthday present from my family and the C60 was funded as a result of a serious accident last year (as well as a bit of luck with Sigma sport having a mega sale on). What is so frustrating is that even if the insurance pay out the full value the chances of getting such a high spec C60 for the same price are almost zero, that and the fact that there are no art-deco C60's on the market in my size.

I'll let you know how things unfold but in the meantime please keep your eyes open for the following;

Sorry to read.

On an associated note do you use strava? Lot of stories of people posting pics of expensive bits of kit and then showing where they are kept on a map....

Yup, but I always start the rides from the top of my road, without following me home it would be anyones guess which garage I keep my bikes in, so fairly sure whoever took them has probably been watching/following me for a few days. I live in a small estate where everyone pretty much knows everyone - trouble is we have a small building site in the corner of the estate at the moment and as a result there are 30+ builders cars and vans scattered around the roads so at the moment it's difficult to spot cars/vans that don't belong. I'm not saying the theft had anything to do with the building work - just that with so many 'alien' cars on the estate it's difficult to spot the ones that don't belong....

Another bike stolen in the Thames area, seems to be a lot going missing at the moment.
Lot of stolen bike on forums.
Do think Strava is a increase in risk on security of bikes.

Police don't seem to have the resource to do anything and reviewing of CCTV after the event isn't much of a deterrent :/
Police are so stretched it took them 20 mins to answer the 'non-emergency' number and the operator more or less said unless they've cut themselves and left some blood it's just bad luck, not enough resources to investigate the huge volumes of bike thefts that are taking place in the area right now - but, it's likely that it's the same gang responsible for the majority of thefts!

Horrid story, hope you get them back

Hopefully they will turn up on ebay/scumtree

WHat kind of garage door did you have?
Standard up and over, never considered it vulnerable before - always doubled locked but evidently the weakness is not in the lock! I won't share on a public forum but I'd urge everyone to look at their security from the eye's of a thief not someone who thinks that thieves target the lock - evidently that's just there to make you feel like you've done your job......
