Last year was the first time since taking up cycling that it didn't clash with a major target and it was possibly the best ride of the year. I'm back for 2018 and riding out and back. Are there many other PHers riding this year?

I'll be riding my Aeroad, which will hurt over that (out and back) distance. It's not one to race but I'll probably still press on to get back at a good time and limit the damage to my poor hands, which are still suffering after the Trans Am.

I remember reaching for the arm warmers and gilet at the first pub stop. The forecast looks warm but 18°C at night is different from 18°C in the day, especially if you're standing around in pub gardens or chilling on the beach.

I always bump into PHers on the route, I'm sure it will happen sometime in the middle of the night.
Or shortly after setting off thumbup Nice to bump into you.

That wind was quite unhelpful in the end. Especially on the way back.

How’s this for lacking atmosphere hehe

It’s a waste of a great ride to smash through it quickly. Hitting the beach so early was completely missing the point too. I got to enjoy a little bit of atmosphere by the lake, around 30 miles into the return leg, which was otherwise a dull slog against wind, rain and saddle sores.
