At the ripe old age of 45 I've started watching way too many BMX youtube channels, and got to thinking "I quite fancy a go at that"

I've been scouring Ebay for any local bargain tatty bikes I can tidy up.

Anyone else done the same? How easy is it to learn the basics, and then progress?

Thanks for the replies.

Hadn't really thought about racing, and not sure if there are many/any tracks local to me.

It was more along the lines of a personal challenge to see if I can actually learn how to do some of the more basic tricks. 180, fakie, manual etc. I have no delusions that I'll be 360 whipping out of the park or anything biggrin

The point about tidying up and selling on bmx did pique an interest though, as looking on eBay there are loads of tatty bikes in need of some tlc, and the nice stuff seems to go for a pretty good price.

Thanks Chaps

I'm not worried about what I'll look like or what people think, and to be honest, from the lads I've chatted to when down the little local skate park when I take my 9 year old lad with his stunt scooter they are all chilled lads, happy to chat and encouraging.

As said I see it as a personal challenge to learn the basic tricks and see how it goes. I've semi-seriously challenged my lad to a competition to see who can whip first. Him on hos new scooter or me on my (not yet purchased) BMX.

I've been looking at local stuff on Ebay. WeThePeople and Mafia mainly, but don't know enough yet about which are good bad or indifferent.

Sounds like you just need some wheels, wethepeople will do you proud, steer clear of Mafia smile
Cheers. I'll keep looking out for that bargain then.

Ebay bargain n+1 bought.

Pretty tatty Haro, but enough for me to at least try and learn some tricks fall off endlessly.

Pictures from the Ebay sale. I'll add more once I've tidied it up a bit.

Keep an eye out for the "what bones have you broken this week" thread. biggrin
