Yesterday I went out for a ride following a saved route on my Elemnt, all OK to start with the arrows shown on the map and turn instructions appearing at the right time.

Then I had to detour off the route due to a road closure, only a quarter of a mile, but the Elemnt locked at a previous turn instruction and also the arrows on the map disappeared, fortunately I had uploaded the route to my Garmin GPSMap64S so I used that, the Garmin doesn't do turn by turn instructions but simply overlays the route on the map which is fine.

So what did I do wrong with the Elemnt? I did try cancelling the route and then restarting it but still no arrows on the map or turn instructions. There was good GPS signal, I was out in the open and not under loads of trees or in the bottom of a valley.

Thanks in advance Wahoo gurus!

As I understand it the BOLT doesn’t re-route you if you go off course. The turn by turn instructions are specific to the route that you have loaded and are not ‘live’ as such.
I can understand that but the thing is that within a quarter of a mile I was back on route but the Elemnt locked at the instruction where I went off route, it just didn't seem to take any notice of me being back on route, a bit daft given the number of spontaneous road closures that seem to appear around here!!! The highlighting arrows disappeared off the map as well.

Ah well I suppose it can't do everything as it is very small and only has a tiny brain ----- much like it's owner LOL

Thanks everyone, I have checked the firmware is up to date and will give it another go although I have just realised I have been carrying around the perfect device, my Caterpillar S52 tough phone.

I use Ride with GPS to generate my routes so I checked the phone paired with my Quark power meter which it did so I can replace both the Wahoo and the GPSMap64S with the S52, it has a massive battery unlike most phones , is waterproof and shockproof. So I am taking the Wahoo and the S52 for a ride!!
