Wow... what an end to the season!!!
Tony Schumacher needed to go 1 round further that Doug Kalitta, plus set a new national record to overtake him and clinch the championship!
Well, Doug lost on a holeshot in round 3 to Melanie Troxel leaving her to face Tony in the final!
I stayed up watching the results last night , but fell asleep before the finals! When I checked the results just now, I nearly choked.... The 'Shoe' did it... won the final round and unbelievably set a new world ET record of 4.428, clinching the championship by just 14 points!
I thought that he had blown his chance to set any records following the hoo-har in qualifying! Schumacher was to face Kalitta in the 4th session on Saturday night, but was told to shut off due to a leak! However, he ignored the starter and inevitably went up in smoke, earning the team a $20k fine in the process!
Without that damned leak though, I reckon we might have seen a dip into the 4.30's as the conditions were perfect!

In Funnny Car, John Force took his 14th championship in round 2 by defeating Ron Capps!
He won the final round on a holeshot against Jack Beckman who set new records for speed and ET!!!

Andrew Hines held on for another championship in PSB, but only just! He redlit in round 1, leaving it wide open to Antron Brown! However Brown couldn't get past the next round, handing the championship to Hines by just 23 points!

Jason Line Took the Pro Stock Championship in Vegas after defeating Mr. Anderson!

Roll on 2007!!!
