Need to part with my Swiss-registered 2011Discovery - ideally, just before the Easter weekend.

I've sold a couple of cars privately through autoscout24.ch before but thought that a Ricardo auction might be worth a go in this instance. I have assumed that it should attract trade buyers - so long as I set the starting price below the Eurotax bottom book.

However, filtering the current offerings on ricardo doesn't fill me with confidence as I haven't seen much evidence of cars selling in the CHF15k plus bracket but it is a crappy website and hasn't obviously changed much in the past 10 or so years.

I have listed before on Autoscout24 and received (sometimes strange) approaches from typical 'export' buyers and I may end up with one of these guys but not sure if they will bid on my auction if they prefer to contact those who are listing on autoscout24.ch?

I'm tempted to list it with no reserve but if there is simply no liquidity (and I could be unable to end the auction early if I find my own buyer in the mean time - I must check this bit!), it may struggle to get up to bottom-book which would be a shame.

Still can't quite understand the Swiss market. There doesn't appear to be a national, or even regional equivalent to WBAC.

Thanks for the link to the Comparis site. I hadn't used that one before. Interesting to see the comparison rating and price development of published adverts... I found this 575M which has been for sale for over 10 years!

I contacted Ricardo and they confirmed that their auction process is legally binding (although not sure how enforceable that is) and there is no right to cancel before the end (as is the case with eBay Motors which isn't popular in Switzerland for whatever reason).

I am not convinced that there is great liquidity on Ricardo (especially over Easter when many folk are away) so I think I will just try Autoscout24 and see who calls up. In the mean time, I will offer it to a handful of dealers.

Do you have any suggestions for a WBAC equivalent?

I found the BCA car auction site but there are just 17 cars listed! There must be another player...

Thanks.

I ended up selling it to some genuinely nice blokes at AB Motors in Gingins. They appear to have resold it already.

Private sales in Switzerland are not that common and I am sure that I could have got 10-20% more if I had more time but I set myself a deadline and it was time to move it on...
