CPZ trackday, 29th DEC 2013

Nice turn up, superb weather and an almost dry track - two offs.

Everything goes: from Exige 260 to ratty E30 Beemers . . .

. . . to this 420 brake M3 V8 powered kit . . .

. . . veteran Cor Euser fills up his 600 brake Marcos Mantis. GT and Cup drivers use DF trackdays to set up the cars.

Young gun Junior Strous treating the audience on impeccable lines. In one flow from Tarzan to Hunserug: respect.

More.

It will eat tires. Pros say: it's quite a technical track.

Juansolo: do you mean (sorry, I'm from NL) you could use some tuition and get to know the track better?

Quick cars: under 1:50. Scheivlak and straight: 220 kmh. Your brakes should be OK.

Last sunday there were about 50 cars. Some instructors - of which 2 in 1990s Ibiza diesels! - and driving schools, a handfull of experienced racers - always handy to ask about attacking corners and choosing gears - and a variety of Lotus', BMWs, Audis and Subarus. Parking boasted a few yummie cars as well.

Maybe PM if you are interested in more details.

USP1: it's a 3 mins drive from the North Sea beach!

USP2: 30 mins from Amsterdam city centre.

The two offs of the day:

Jim Raaymakers' quick Clio Cup had just spent 14K on bits, aaaargh. Hard braking before Tarzan made the rear dancing . . . Quite a situation while at 220 kmh.

Fresh DFT instruction Beemer: write off after only 60 mins tracktime. Wet bits were tricky . . .

M3 powerrrrrr.

'Cruising' and testing the bits.

The 600 brake Cor Euser beast resting.

Classic Beemer still going strong . . . and quick.

Waiting for a clear track . . . Cup car crashed into the armco.

Waiting for the next session.

Cor Euser is a Dutch racing legend: with 380 races entered and 47 wins, 116 podiums and 38 pole positions this guy is business. Chevy 6,3 boasts 530 brake.

A looker.

Although this is more in my street.

Driven to the track, helmets on and: go!

I don't care what you think. Really I don't.

M3 V8.

From a bunch of guys having fun in a 25 year old Beemer to GT Challenge pro's > everything goes at these trackdays. As long as all behave and they do.

You are right Dutchie: the sessions DF offer are longer and the more controlled (pro timing, marshalls, pace cars). I was amazed and thought the whole scene was like being at a racing event.

A quick Zandvoort lap is 2 to 3 mins and you'll need quite a few to get the hang of this technical track.

Zandvoort is near Amsterdam (30 mins drive) and near The Hague (45 mins). Speaking of which, I dropped by at the The Hague based awesome Louwman Collection:

A shame the 2000GT Toyota wasn't there - hired out - but boy, what a sight!

In for an Energy Drink.

Easily the most visual and audible beast of the day.

"And some breath mints and 2 camels please."

On a smaller note:

The Strous family track day tool.

I would not be surprised if Ton and Junior set the quickest laps of the day: when did I see braking lights on?

Not here.

Mmmmh, this or an MX-5?

TUES 13th - but there are more opportunities Jon: Griff thunder?

Would be great to see you test the brakes at CPZ.

Under 1:50 and beers are my treat.

HARC is alright - check their website to get dates:

The link to the CPZ trackday is:

Spanking at Zandvoort: I guess you'll need to get to know the track to do just that. It's technical, heavy on tires and brakes.

My kinda 6:

Everything goes . . . and quick.

Would be great to team up Jon.

DF Trackday at Zandvoort:

Built like tanks, powerfull and agile: perfect track toy.

Drivers had the sun in their backs. Straight towards Tarzan is on the rightside.

No tracktime for this beauty queen.

A handfull at play, a glorious sight and sound.

Boyracer Pug did well, makes me think of the 'Ring-AX Special. No diesel in this Jewish Racing Gold one though.

Pubstories.

Swift Suzukis made me think.
