Contractors, your advice please
Discussion
Your top tips please for keeping a bit of a distance from the permy's politics and BS. Maybe it's where I've been there for quite a while...
It's getting me down a bit at the moment and I'm aware that to keep on the good side of management and have a long and profitable contract I need to keep out of all the nonsense. I also don't want to appear rude and unsociable by not getting involved at all with people, because in turn that also leads to lots of slagging off!
I try to focus on the conny ca$h but sometimes it's not enough to keep me motivated.
Perhaps it's time to move on, but it's a decent rate, nice work and fairly close to home. Other than that I can't stand the place.

I should add I'm a contractor in engineering, not IT (use the term engineering loosely) and the mentality of some of my colleagues is that of being at school, not a grown up place of work.
If I was always working alone on a computer I might find it a bit easier to keep my head down and ignore it I guess!
