Rather than hijack Scrubchub's thread...

I've got a video conference interview next week so also looking for tips. Tried a Skype call to the wife last night and it seems the wifi speed in the flat I rent during the week is a bit rubbish so I'll use a room at my current (contract) work, which means I don't need to worry too much about the background.

I'm used to using Skype with a webcam on top of a fixed monitor, using a laptop the camera's quite a low angle. Is it worth having a couple of thick books to jack it up a bit rather than looking down on the camera?

For a half hour first interview what sort of questions would you expect? The job application as online so I'm expecting it to expand on my answers to the questions there. I plan to have an off camera list of key points and achievements that I want to get across, and details I can quickly reference about specific projects. I know a reasonable amount about the work as I've contracted for them before so I'll make sure I get hat clear in my mind too. Any other preparations I should be making?

I've got a bit of a cold at the moment, I assume nobody would object if I have a drink of water occasionally and I'm guessing if I need to blow my nose it would be polite to duck off camera (and directional mic) for a moment?
