Hi All,

I'm an ex-army officer (6 years service) currently looking for a new career. My experience is mainly as an operations manager and leader in unpredictable and high pressure environments. I've also been trained in project management (Agile and Lean) and have experience in sales (albeit retail).

Unsurprisingly I'm mad about cars so the automotive career is a natural choice and I'm posting this for career suggestions and networking.

The sorts of roles I would be interested in are project management, client services, operations, logistics, sales and any managerial roles. However hopefully you will be able to broaden my search with further suggestions.

Thank you very much for any help in advance. Feel free to PM, CV available upon request!

Hi Rog,

I was hoping you’d reply, seen your responses to others with this sort of topic.

Have Amazon on-going (various roles) and yes using OA. I was using this to see suggestions for the automotive industry in particular though... be that a salesman at a high end garage or business development at a manufacturer.

CV wise please may I send it to you to see what you think? If so please PM me your email address (if that’s how you usually do it)!

Thank you for the replies, I have taken a lot of the advice over the last few weeks and got to the final stage of two different Amazon interviews (4 hrs each) which were brutal but a great learning experience.

Aside from cars my other real passion is property so I'm trying to find work in that industry whilst doing a masters in a related field.

If you want any advice on the masters, PM me. Can probably help.
Thanks very much, I just tried but it said that you don't allow it... quite likely I'm doing something wrong, very new here!

I would love to hear your advice though so please may you message me? A few others have managed to so I guess my privacy settings allow it.

I'm ex reme myself, although a lowly full screw. Perhaps our paths have crossed at some point.

Be wary of Amazon, I know alot of ex reme ranging from Lance jack's through to WO and LE's.
They've all done well in getting though to Amazon's elusive final stage interviews only to be told their actually looking for civilian quals. They are from what I've seen, absolute time wasters !

However, hopefully your a change to the norm, I do have a very good mate (also former screw reme) who landed a area managers job with them. We now rarely ever hear from him as the job has taken over and cost him everything.
I personally, would never recommend them after seeing how they use, abuse and split you out !
Interesting regarding how hard they work area managers, I have heard a lot of that recently with Amazon operations roles so now feeling a little glad I was unsuccessful there!
