I work in hospitality and have for quiet a number of years. My cv is full of career progression and awards and recognition for a job well done. I’m currently working at a 4 black star hotel but have been offered a job at a four red star hotel.
So this is my question.
The job I have been offered is closer to my gf. I currently live an hour’s drive. So if I take the job I can now move in with her which is what both of us want. It pays more money than my current job. (about £1500 more), the hours will be less (I’m doing about 60 now and it will go down to 45). This all sounds great i know, but it’s a drop in position. Rather than being an assistant manager im possibly going to become a head waiter.
So my cv will say assistant manager to head waiter. Yes it’s a better style property but it’s a lesser position in a better property.
I really don’t know what to do. Do I take the job but keep looking for something better or do I stay working for a hotel that treats me like dirt, pays me crap for the amount of hours i do.
