F10 M5 top-up oil grade
Discussion
Sorry if this topic has already been discussed (couldn't find anything in the PH search).
Just added my first (of probably many) 1 litre top-ups in my F10 M5.
Checked around the web for opinions on other forums and checked with BMW dealership and found conflicting opinions of what grade of oil should be used.
Popular opinion was Castrol EDGE 5W-30
BMW Dealership's opinion was Castrol EDGE 10W-60 (even after stating F10 M5)
Owner's manual says 0W-30 or 0W-40 (alternative 5W-30 or 5W-40): -
Decided on this: -
http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiongenericartic...
Castrol EDGE 0W-40 meets the owner's manual specification for grade, general specification (ACEA A3/B4) as well as being a BMW long life approved oil.
Anyone else run into this dilemma?
