BMW E46 M3, what is it to you, iconic, overrated, epic etc.?

I would really like to own one, but head is ruling too much lol

I still think it looks great, but there's no denying it's getting dated now. On that note with 10 year old examples maybe rust, rear subframe problem, highly strung mainteance cost engine, quirky SMG with potential costs at this age.

i know some may think it's overrated, not that quick, dated, and expensive for what it is

however those who own them or have owned them generally say they love it, so i;ve seen many go back to one, as they are epic

and it seems my feelings are mixed amongst others

however these cars aren't 0-60 in 4.x seconds
they're not slow, but in modern terms they aren't that quick. I know different type of car but the new merc a45 amg and golf r are sub 5 seconds on paper, and deliver probably less drama and character, but on the flip side cost less to fuel at double mpg and half the servicing cost i would imagine
