Evening,

Viewing an AUC 2008 M3 tomorrow with DCT, am I made going from a 2011 plate 135i to a 2008 M3?

Alternative, drop £2k on a LSD etc.

Thinking I should be going 59 min if possible.

This is the car - http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/M/4.0-V8/Eastleigh/20742...

Did you go from a N54 135i to a LCI M3?

HI - I met you at the breakfast meet a few weeks back , I was the one with the 2011 white m3. The one you are looking at us a pretty good spec but for 3 grand more I got a 2011 LCI model with 2 years AUC BMW warranty and less miles. LCI will have the better lights and better sat nav plus a few other things ( lower seats etc ). I dont think you will miss your 135 once you get into an m3. The engine is awesome plus with the exhaust mod it will be music to your ears .
Plus its an M car - they hold their price so if you did decide you fancied a change after while you wouldn't lose much .

Hi mate,

Yes I remember, really nice white LCI, I was in my mate's VXRR that day.

My ideal spec as a start
DCT
LCI / later idrive
18" wheels
PDC
USB audio
Sub 40-50k miles.
Must not be black. Gunmetal or white I think

Will have to download a brochure to look more in depth. I fancied one for Le Mans run, but prob won't happen.

Mate has just sold his 60 plate 135i for £14.5k, so would expect similar.

Seen a few M3s hanging around recently so dealers now taking the piss re £££.

Viewing Feb 2011 car this week, circa £25k - SO60ART.

My only concern is I do a fair amount of pootling around and people say the N55 engine is far better for this. mmm

When I test drove / loaned some E92 M3s I found them really easy to drive, low speeds, around town. No less so than my 335i. I think it's the split personality of that generation M3 where it can feel like a sleepy tiger when necessary, then wake the tiger up, with revs, and it's wild.

My only caveat is:- if pootling suddenly becomes an urgent cut and thrust drive around, say, the city, then, yes, the 335i with performance more accessible at low revs, because of the torque, seems a little more suited to this job.

But I don't think this is a reason not to buy the M3; it's never slow. wink
Nice that you replied as I was looking to message you offline, I couldn't remember which M3 you had E46/E92 etc.

I've advertised my 135i at £15k so will see what's what. Reason why I want an E92 M3 is I'm wanting a GT cruiser that I miss from my R32... but also something that you can maybe sit there an go wow.

The E92s have always wowed me:- the engine is just awesome. I will have one one day, but the mega daily mileage I have meant I needed a cheap daily, so the E46 M3 / plus daily was the best combo I could afford at the time, although I'm now doing 600 miles a week in the M3s new partner, a brand new X1, long story!

A guy from here got a E92 last Autumn and I actually found it for him. It was a high specced LCI manual with the CP wheels, Approved Used for 25k I think.

One thing I learnt from the search was that there's a lot out there, even 2 AU cars we looked at, that don't have complete service records!!

I also learnt that when it comes to cost, the best is probably AU (assuming you want a warranty) in a good state of service health, i.e. things like brake pads/discs/new tyres all done.

Edit:- just had a look online, the M3's do look excellent in white, red is best interior and great combo; most of the spec I'd want, other than going for CP, i.e. heated seats I do like, plus it's useful to have fr/rear p/sensors. I like folding mirrors to , but not a deal breaker.

18inch wheels, should aid driver comfort.

18inch wheels, should aid driver comfort. - That's a big plus for me!

Re miles, I used to do circa 600 miles a week to Guildford and back for Detica, I vowed never again so right at this moment I as a whole walk to work unless it's chucking it down. For business miles we can hire cars, so again I could stop the miles pilling on.

I've asked about BMWFSH, but keep meaning to call BMW UK to ask for the further info. I think my 135i is holding steady re depreciation, but the M135i/M140i - no thanks on that front. Prices dropping like a rock, all the first PCP deals coming back in.

I've got to not kid myself over the cost to change aspect, I think I could drop £2.5k+ and still "only" have a 135i, where as a cost to change to the M3 will be circa £9-10k potentially.

I'm keeping my eye out for other AUC cars, but sadly none near me. It's not got EDC sadly, but I haven't got £30k to drop frown

Might offload my Tudor Black Bay though as it's a watch bought on a whim, no family value around it.

Knowing my luck I'll sell my 135i and then struggle to get the right car re ££ etc in time for Le Mans.

I'd agree with "you" being 5th

Owner 3 only had it for 11 months, that's as far back as I could check April 2014-March 2015; but last owner 2 years, so no signs it's been a lemon passed back and fore.
It's an AUC car so you'd hope it's all good.
