M2 Owners - Manual or DCT?
Discussion
Had a test drive in an M2 today and really rather liked it.
Dealer was trying to convince me to jump into one of their cancelled orders (Stephen James Ruxley if anyone looking have a black and white one coming in both cancelled orders) but both were DCT.
When i said i would prefer a manual, he said i was crazy, so wondering what people have bought here?
(And glad i held out as came back to find out about the M2 updates - minor, but still prefer the newer LCI car )

Unless you are trying to break lap times rather than have fun and engage yourself with the driving experience, I really can't see why anyone would choose an auto. That being said, nearly every journo you hear says the same yet the buying public tend to lean in favour of auto when given the choice so i'm confused. I'm a bit older so grew up with manuals and don't see the point of an auto in a sports car so perhaps they're aimed at younger drivers.
And this is the thing ... the auto was nice and all, but i felt a bit disconnected with it as ive always had fun cars that are manual - integra, 911 turbo, even my old corrado! There is something about changing gears and being in control of the car by myself that makes it more special.Edited by P.Griffin on Friday 12th May 11:36
I get that u can do it with flap paddles etc, but having had them in my 335d a while back, i never really used them and just let the car do the work as thats the point of the auto i figured.
