just out of interest and as a result of a thread we were chatting on about V Max 200 recently on the Supercar forum, does anyone know much about the F10 M5 that managed 207mph there recently, and what sort of £££ was spent to get that sort of performance out of it?

this was from the results
DME F10 M5 207mph
it was up in the top ten cars overall, along with a few tuned 997 turbos etc, value for money wise it may be one of the performance bargains just looking at top speed alone. I dont know much about them in terms of tuneability or performance, was it a time bomb waiting to go off? :-)

exactly it was rather stunning! bearing in mind a brand new Ferrari managed the same speed.

whats the cost of getting one of these to that level of performance then roughly, anyone know?

Most likely parts :

Upgraded Turbo chargers (likely Pure Turbos Stage 1)

Uprgraded Downpipes with cats removed

Methanol Injection

Uprated Boost Sensors (or not if very smartly mapped)

Remapped for boost higher and fuelling than standard remaps (Standard remaps only allow a max boost of circa 22.8psi, which all F10 M5s can actually achieve even with stock maps when conditions require it to achieve the maximum advertised HP/Lb.Ft.(Standard remaps simply call for this 22.8 psi more often to achieve higher than stock HP/Lb.Ft. at all given scenarios)) Proper remaps, given the right fuelling and cooling, usually cured with Methanol Injection and sometimes race fuel, can boost to 27/29 psi.

Possibly combined with JB4 box for good methanol injection control and crucial data logging.

Upgraded clutch packs, perhaps.

Upgraded intake system (but not really necessary from what I understand).

So about £10K or thereabouts....pretty cheap to be honest.

very interesting. cheaper as a package then than the 997 Turbos *(say £50k car plus £20k mods) to get 200+mph out of.
how reliable have these sort of mods been though, you can imagine quite a large bill for blowing one of those engines up, again as you would with a modified porsche turbo engine.

stunning if reliable power! do they need meth (always a risk needing methanol to control inlet air temps and det)?

As above, although i think the secondary limiter is closer to 200mph, albeit 198/9. This limiter is hard coded into the M-DCT ECU & is quite a task to remove, however the regular ECU limiter is pretty straight forward to code out.

Mine was DMS Stage 2 tuned & although i didn't get the opportunity to hit 200mph, several times she achieved well into the 180's & a couple of times close to 190.
are they generally raising the boost/fuelling tweaks then plus better exhausts /downpipes etc within these stages? My friends 997 turbo was still running cats , and a stock engine for 206mph, just better turbos, plenum, filters and a proper 9e map.
