Just bought an M6 Gran Coupe
Discussion
Evening all,
Just thought i'd share a couple of photos of my recent purchase. I'm so impressed with it. I sold my 997 911 and replaced this with it. Really enjoying it so far, my first M car and probably not my last! I added the proper carbon tip spoiler, which i think really compliments the car and matches the roof well.
photos aren't great!
Does anyone know how many M6 GC's there are in the UK? You don't see many on the roads?

That one looks like Pure Metal Silver to me, not enough colour in it for Silverstone.
I have one in Sakhir Orange, competition pack and Carbon Ceramic brakes. It also has the M-Performance spoiler and rear diffuser,
That's a great spec on yours. Have you any photos of the rear diffuser? Have you got the same tailpipe trims on it too?I have one in Sakhir Orange, competition pack and Carbon Ceramic brakes. It also has the M-Performance spoiler and rear diffuser,

A few things I think.
They have comedy retail price figures
Massive discounts based on above comedy pricing
Meaning that residuals are piss poor and they depreciate hugely.
They are very large
Now those are the negatives - I like these a lot, they have some of the best interiors that BMW had made at that time.
I think the shape is very nice too.
The engine has too much power for the 2wd powertain - you can see that as a negative or a positive I guess
Bought very well they are wonderful things to knock about in.
Just my 2p worth
I agree with most of this to be fair. They were ridiculously priced when they came out and discounts didn't help with residuals. I think now in the used market though as they've lost a significant part of their value and with there only being 5-600 of them in the UK, they seem a good alternative to an M5. That was my thinking anyway. They are big, well a bit bigger than a 5 series, but big! The engine does feel like it has too much power. They have comedy retail price figures

The positives for me, i think they are one of the best looking cars BMW has produced in a long while, you don't see many of them about. They are very well spec'd and have one of the best interiors of a car i've seen in a while in this sector.
My issue was, i only need one car, but i wanted something that gave me the opportunity to press on if i want to, also something fun, but also something i can put the family in and drive round Europe. The alternatives are few (RS6, RS4, Panamera, AMG E class) and i don't think any of them give you the value that you get from the M6 GC, despite them all being very capable and great cars.

Here’s mine when I was down at a driving experience day (many various cars) at Mondello Park. BMW M at the time by chance had loads of sponsor banners up. Seemed the perfect place to park her up for a photo!
Agreed on the traction comments, especially over here in N Ireland we just never have dry enough roads. But that rare time when she hooks up to the road my word its quick. Like mentioned already, drive to the conditions. I will say Michelin Pilot Super Sports made a massive difference on mine over P Zeros that are only good for anything in a warm and dry climate, certainly not UK most year round.

Here's mine the cotswolds recently
Does anyone know if you can (forgive me for saying this) put a roof box on the carbon fibre roof? We're looking at doing a road trip later in the year and the additional storage would be good!
I know there are no roof bar slots, but i didn't know if you could get the roof bars that connect to the car door frame perhaps?

is this thread still active, just stumbled across it as one does, some interesting comments, I am on my 3rd current gen 6 series and so far so good, I am guessing most of these cars are financed so does depreciation really matter ??
Here is my last one, which was replaced with an identical like for like due to some after sales issues
very nice indeed! That's St. Pauls Square in Birmingham isnt it?Here is my last one, which was replaced with an identical like for like due to some after sales issues

I think the CP adds about 15 BHP only so I figured less than 3% increase is neither here nor there with 552 BHP as standard. Perhaps more important is to get the extras you want which will enhance the time you spend in the car far more than the marginal power increase.
On mine I really like the soft close doors and cooled seats, the speed limit display is helpful (it also adds the no overtaking symbol too when appropriate, don't know yet if any others come up). The right colour interior is going to make a massive difference and what I saved on a non CP I put towards a new number plate
That looks great. Did you fill the holes from the surround to fit your plate, or did you take to a bodyshop? On mine I really like the soft close doors and cooled seats, the speed limit display is helpful (it also adds the no overtaking symbol too when appropriate, don't know yet if any others come up).
