Inadequate insurance pay out e46 m3
Discussion
I've been offered £7.8k to replace my 2002 E46 M3 coupe manual, 110k miles. The car was without fault (inc. rear subframe which had Redish reinforcement 4 months ago at a cost of £2k).
Looking at adverts I can't find any manual coupe's for anything close to that, I've disputed with my insurance company but they are saying that's the highest amount their system allows for this car.
Where do I stand with this, I think about 9k is more realistic. I'd expect the payout to allow me to replace the car.
Cheers,
Duncan.

Had a fairly long chat with the guy and he seemed moderately sympathetic, he said the next stage is to pass it onto another engineer but in the background advised compiling some information (adverts etc) to prove the value.
It's an insurance company I had heard of before, not sure if that excludes it from being a cheapo internet company or not though.

Yes that’s true Mark.
So I got a call from the 2nd engineer today, he explained how the 1st engineer had followed their procedure correctly and given the highest value available using their system. He then continued to tell me he had looked at currently advertised vehicles and agrees that the market value is higher so changed it to my requested value. So all sorted and they weren’t unreasonable to be fair.
The only decision I have now is whether I buy it back for salvage or not, it’s still straight and runs fine but has front end damage- Bumper, bonnet, headlights, washer bottle, radiator, various plastics in the bumper area and the front wings are dented. Would make a good track car but I’ve not got time to break it which is putting me off keeping it.
Thanks for all the responses to this, all useful reading
